KitchenAid KSM150PSPK Artisan Series 5-Qt : Buyer beware if you purchase this it may not work like it used

Then it broke and i loved it. . :)whenever i purchase an appliance, especially a slightly more expensive one like this, i read a ton of reviews to see if a) it does what it’s supposed to well and b) do people continue to like it over time. B is a lot harder to gauge; nobody writes reviews about stuff they bought 18 months ago. Unfortunately, b is a pretty big part of the picture. Reviews will tell you if the design is good and if it works as advertised, but b will really depend on how durable things are and how well the manufacturer supports their product. With engineering concepts like planned obsolescence rife within the consumer products industry, it can be a real challenge to see who the dependable manufacturers are. So when my mixer failed after 6 months, i knew i was within warranty but i wasn’t sure how the process would go. I can always sniff trouble when i call a warranty support line (or these days, if they even have one) and they immediately ask for every scrap of information under the sun. (ok, that one is probably fair. ) will you try these dozens of useless tests designed to make you give up?.Do you mind waiting on hold for 60 minutes?.

Great mixer, bowl residue sucks. The mixer mixes very well and is very solidly made. All steel construction and it looks beautiful in the kitchen. I’m really looking forward to getting more attachments for it. The reason so far for 4 instead of 5 stars is the residue on the bowl. I cleaned it with olive oil, i cleaned it with bar keepers friend and i cleaned it with lemon juice and salt. Each time i thoroughly scrubbed with a sponge and hot water and each time more crap came off. I spent a good 45 minutes getting all that off. It’s a one time deal, so whatever, but having to spend 45 minutes of solid scrubbing on a brand new $300+ plus kitchen appliance just to get it ready to use is a bit excessive.

Resolved the issue of grey contamination from the bowl. The fact that there have been many posts in the past several years about grey residue does not speak well of kitchenaid’s ability to resolve issues of quality control. The solution that worked for me was scrubbing the bowl with baking soda paste as recommended by the kitchenaid website. I purchased this model kitchenaid (aqua sky) in the past week (in march 2016) and had the problem many have reported of grey residue around the bowl. It ruined my very first recipe, a batch of lovingly prepared yeast waffle dough, when i started mixing. At first i thought it was grease that had dripped from the motor into the food, then i realized the contamination was coming from the bowl, which i had washed once before use. (the imprint on the bottom of the bowl indicates it is made in india. ) after throwing away my ingredients, i re-washed twice with a scotch-brite scrubby sponge and hot water and detergent, and then twice more scrubbing extremely vigorously with comet cleanser, then rinsing thoroughly. But still wiping the inside of the bowl with a white kitchen towel left a grey residueafter further research i found a page on the kitchenaid site that describes this problem. You can find it if you google ‘kitchenaid remove residue from stainless bowls’.

Still a workhorse after 14 years. I just bought as a wedding gift for my young friend. She and her new husband are comingling their kitchens and this is the must have item to bring the new kitchen up to chef’s standards. I have owned an artisan since 2003. It gets regular use, for everything from whipped cream to semolina pasta dough (very stiff dough). It has never misbehaved and never let me down. The finish is still as shiny and unmarred as the day i bought it. The bowl and beaters are still solid, although the spatula beater and dough hook are a little dull. Here are some of my observations after using my stand mixer for 14 years. The head will move a little bit with stiff dough. If it jumps a lot read the owners manual and make the necessary adjustments (to make sure the beater is at the correct level in the bowl). Very stiff dough will cause a little movement. That’s why there is a lock on the head. The only issue i have had with the mixer moving slightly with very stiff dough is the entire mixer slowly walking across my counter. This was worse on my previous porcelain tile counters but it does not move as much on my granite slab counters, maybe an inch over several minutes. In any case, if you are running the mixer for 10 minutes on a stiff bread dough, keep an eye on it. The motor head will heat up with hard dough, high speed, or a long running time.

Mixer review 2yrs in the making + tips. As always, i prefer to give credit where credit is due rather than short change a product, but just keep in mind there are a few drawbacks to this mixer. But first the pros, this sucker is sturdy. Most of us have seen these mixers everywhere for what seems to be decades, but it was probably just me that didn’t realize all kitchenmaid stand mixers aren’t created equal. While they may look alike, different models have different capacities, speeds and effectiveness in various applications. I really wanted to wait to write this review until i had really explored this machine because it’s such a big investment (in my opinion at least). Now that i have, the sturdiness of this product has definitely proven to be true. We have a rather small kitchen and so it gets moved around quite a bit, this hasn’t resulted in any sort of loosening or wiggling which is important when you have that dough hook running at top speed (some of the cheaper mixers act like poorly balanced washing machines).

My mom has been wanting a kitchen aid for years. And so for christmas i bought her one. It was an unexpected surprise and she loved it. Ive used it a few times now and i like it. My only complaint would have to be the need to switch between the different heads for mixing the different kinds of ingredients. For example i was making a pumpkin bread recipe and was using the whisk for the sugar, butter, eggs. As soon as i added in the heavier pumpkin puree the machine started shaking a bit; and once i started adding in the dry mix, i obviously needed to switch to the other white head that i don’t remember the name of because it would not turn at all. For someone who has just always done it without a mixer, it was a little weird to get used to switching between the heads. The kneeding aspect works well as we have already also made a dough with it (gluten free) and it came out fluffy and perfect.

The best thing i’ve ever purchased. I absolutely love this kitchenaid artisan stand mixer. It is by far the best investment that i have ever purchased for my kitchen. My favorite color is blue so that’s the one that i chose to buy. My hobby is baking & with this mixer everything that i mix up is so much fun & easy to do. I’ve made many cakes for friends & family & i always make my own buttercream icing & this product makes it turn out so creamy and i no longer have to wear myself out using the hand mixer anymore. All i have to do is put my ingredients in with any given thing that i am making & let it do all the work for me. I could give hundreds of reasons why i am so happy that i have this amazing mixer & all the wonderful recipes that i can make with it. I absolutely recommend this product to anyone who enjoys baking. I was not given any discount for my review.

I purchased this in 2011 when i remodeled my kitchen and wanted black appliances i could leave on the counter. I gave my old 1989 white one to my daughter to use. I use it frequently for making batters, icings, cookie dough, bread, cheese spreads and whipped cream. The machine is still performing well. Initially it seemed lighter weight than my old one but any concerns i had regarding durability have proved to be unfounded. I have always had good performance and longevity from the kitchen aid line of appliances.

Buyer beware if you purchase this it may not work like it used. Didnt come with the normal shaft spring to hold on the beater. I called kitchen aid and was told they discontinued the spring due to issues. I said what issues ive had a kitchenaid for years with a spring and had no problem. She stated that people couldnt get the beater off the shaft, i said ok so now we are not going to be able to keep it on?. There is nothing to keep it on firmly only the shaft with the pin. She said yeah there are less problems that way, its been tested. Buyer beware if you purchase this it may not work like it used to.

I was about to use my mixer the second time and something came off -.

Second time buyer for this product- i have something to share as i washed the bowl today my sponge turned gray and the water was dirty black color i’m not sure what’s going if i got a bad bowl?. If someone or kitchen aid customer service could explain the reasoning of this?.

why can’t i leave 10 stars????seriously, this is one amazing engine and mixer for the modern kitchen. I don’t know how i didn’t discover kitchenaid mixers until just recently. The motor has its hub upon which many, many different appliances can be attached. One thing i did buy was the ice cream maker, a bowl which you freeze and use with the paddle which is included. You can see the magic happen in the videoas far as the mixer, it is heavy and substantial. It’s not near as loud as i thought it would be – compared to my vitamix this is about 1/4 as loud. The motor starts with plenty of torque. My next purchase will be a juicer attachmentreally, you can’t go wrong this machine. I think it will be an heirloom.

The perfect aid for your kitchen (picture attached). I mean, what can you say about kitchenaid products, except great things?. I’ve put off buying this mixer for almost two years. Something else always got in the way. Since my birthday is coming up, i decided to treat myself. Let me cover the “used” status of this, that i specifically purchased. “used” items on amazon are often simply returned items that, often times, have never been used. The description in the used areas will tell you that either the item might have a blemish, or that it’s simply the packaging that’s been damaged. The latter was the one i chose. The item looks like it never came out of the box.

Never permit the price tag scare you. It can be a fantastic life span financial investment. To be fair, i have only employed the kitchenaid i bought a couple of instances. Nonetheless, my mother has had the exact same model for about 16 decades. I was shocked to discover that it was presently 16 many years old. Her device is just as highly effective as ever, which claims a thing about the integrity of the merchandise. Did you know kitchenaid was built to withstand the turbulence of the sea?. The navy designed this factor to be rugged and lasting. I was skeptical and searched lengthy and tricky right before dropping a handful of hundred dollars on a mixer. Time and time once again, i observed that kitcheaid dominated the market place for a explanation.

The mixer is fantastic, obviously. The objective of this evaluation is far more to support with the colour collection, in scenario anyone out there was like me and having difficulties to differentiate amongst ice blue and aqua sky. I experienced found ice blue in human being at concentrate on. But i could not uncover aqua sky in particular person, and struggled with making an attempt to determine out which on line pics had been exact. There were not that quite a few genuine life shots obtainable to glance at. So i just winged it and requested aqua sky. And right here is the most effective way i can explain the distinction among the two hues.

I am a fifty five year outdated lady and this is my to start with kitchenaid. I’ve just never ever desired to spring for this pricey merchandise. It is so strong, no problem with a double batch of weighty cookie dough or royal icing. Whilst a double batch is the absolute limit of what it will make. The only thing that is odd is that the pin that retains the head of the mixer on the stand appears to wobble out of position if you happen to be earning a little something that is genuinely rigid. I’m not guaranteed if it’s built that way on purpose. I program to simply call kitchenaid and uncover out. That pin came completely out at a single position and i experienced a heck of a time having it again in. That was when i understood it was even an challenge, i hadn’t even recognized it was wobbling out of spot. It is really uncomplicated now, everytime i make one thing in it, when i’m done, i merely force the pin all the way in if it can be wobbled out of put. Other than that, this factor is a aspiration.

Fixed the problem of grey contamination from the bowl. The truth that there have been quite a few posts in the previous several years about gray residue does not converse properly of kitchenaid’s capacity to solve difficulties of top quality manage. The resolution that worked for me was scrubbing the bowl with baking soda paste as suggested by the kitchenaid web site. I obtained this design kitchenaid (aqua sky) in the previous week (in march 2016) and experienced the issue a lot of have claimed of grey residue all-around the bowl. You can uncover it if you google ‘kitchenaid get rid of residue from stainless bowls’.

Preferred appliance, worst packaging. Enjoy it, coloration arrived precisely as pictured, and the device is effective good. There is certainly a cause these devices have trapped all around for a long time as the range one coveted mixer, and it’s not just due to the fact they’re quick on the eyes. They get the job carried out, and they are trustworthy for yrs and several years. The main complaint i have would be the packaging. Do not reduce open up the box when you get this if you pick to obtain a single. Most likely they will change the way they have it packaged, but i minimize open the box wherever it was taped shut, and the prime of the mixer was uncovered within, so the scissors scratched down the length of the prime of my brand new mixer. Key style and design flaw for the staff to function on for something that charge me quite a few hundred bucks to invest in.
