Continental PS77711 Professional Series Deli Slicer : high quality at a great price!

Very good meat slicer for home use. I am writing this to respond those occasional reviewers who have complained about the build quality of this unit. I purchased this unit to slice home-cured pancetta, and have since used it additionally to slice cooked roasts into sandwich meat. Before buying i was concerned by the negative reviews, but the unit has proven itself well able to perform these tasks. It is not a commercial-grade unit, but it is nevertheless of sufficient quality to do slicing of the sort that would be encountered by a home user, even one who is sophisticated and cooks from scratch ingredients frequently. The blade rotates at only a modest speed, but it is quite sharp and serrated as well. The unit is therefore able to cut reliably and consistently. This is true across a wide range of slice thicknesses. Because of the modest blade speed, though, one cannot cut the slices super fast — i would estimate a comfortable maximum of 2-3 slices every 3 seconds. So trying to duplicate the speeds seen at the deli counter is not going to be possible.

Useless for slicing pork belly (bacon). We decided to make our own bacon at home by purchasing pork belly and going through the process of brining, curing and smoking and then slicing it into various thicknesses. This is not the machine for this purpose. I’m sure this slicer has its uses but makin’ bacon aint one of them. So, if that was your thought, look elsewhere. The rpm is too slow and the blade will just not cut an even slice of bacon from the pork belly. I thought this would make the slicing job easy but all it did was make more of a mess, take more time and cause a lot of frustration trying to get even a single good slice of bacon from it. The meat sticks to the blade slowing it down and even when trying to move it very slowly it just mangled the slices. I ended up just using a very sharp, long knife to cut the slices and it went much quicker.

I cut a lot of sirloin roast to make jerky and so far it has done wonderfully. Clean up has been very easy, the blade slips right out. The only problem has been some of the meat gets chewed up on the lower portion of the blade during the initial cut which wastes part of the meat. Other than that it has performed incredibly. I would recommend this product for the money.

I did a lot of research and review reading before i decided to order this slicer. Until now i have been using a long, sharp knife and a cutting board with depth rails to cut my jerky. I could never get it even, not to mention that my arms and arthritic hands got tired slicing through the frozen middle while trying to keep the thawed sides from compacting and being cut thicker. It is not a commercial slicer as to speed, but it is perfect for me. I am not needing to slice 5 pounds of meat in two minutes. I actually get a “zen” type of pleasure watching the slices come off this machine. A slow and steady pressure-no need to push the meat into the blade. Let the blade do what it was designed to do without manhandling the food being sliced. I was hoping to get the non-serrated blade, but it came with a serrated blade.

Good machine but where bread ( in my case) begins. Good machine but where bread ( in my case) begins to to go under top lip above blade it starts to curl in under itself, like an ocean wave then begins to bind up. I have to reach in, unfold it and pull bread out gently as i finish cutting slice. The slice peels off at a sharp angle. When i get to about the middle slices of the loaf the are a little to tall and bind up making you have to push top of loaf down close to blade or tear off pieces which bind up. It still produces more consistant slices than i can which was the whole purpose in buying it.

Well most reviews are just about features, not about what the products are intended to be used for once purchased, so i figured i’d take a different approach and maybe it would help someone who may be deciding to buy this slicer. When i was reading the many reviews on the multitude of slicers on amazon i was confused as to why even slicers over $200. 00 had buyers who were not satisfied. I was looking for a slicer to cut pork roll which is a fav at work and i get a roll about 6lbs and 5 inches in diameter and maybe a foot and a half long. You can’t cut it by hand without getting fat and skinny edges on the same slice. This slicer however performed very well for the money. Most reviews i read said hard to clean, not enough power, sucks on cheese.

Works wellno as easy to clean. I will admit to being a little paranoid about processed meat. I don’t know what’s in it or what it’s glued together with. I like cooking and slicing my own meat. (yes i grind my own meat too). This slices meat very thin which is the way we like it. I almost shaves it which would be my preference. I only gave it 4 i thought about 3 because of cleaning it. I wish more pieces came off for cleaning.

Slice up a great turkey sandwich. Unbelievably easy to use and clean. The suction feet hold it securely to the countertop. I bought it to slice turkey meat for sandwiches during the week. Within 2 uses, it has already paid for itself instead of buying sliced deli meat. Wish it had a cover – too bulky to keep in the box it came with.

This is not a professional deli slicer, but it does the job. As several have said, the blade turns very slowly and you have to take the blade off to clean it. This means unscrewing the three screws. The blade is belt driven and will “skip” on the cogs if you’re cutting something like cold roast beef and stop cutting. You simply have to stop pushing the meat and let the blade start turning again. I had no trouble cutting ham. Clean up is a bit of a chore but not bad. The slices were even, but the thinnest were not as thin as i would have liked. Trying to cut meat extremely thin led to uneven pieces and not cutting all the way through.

The design of this slicer worried me at first. It has a serrated blade but some reviews said it didn’t. The serration lets it cut frozen things better, i think. The clear feeder (piece holder) seems flimsy, but seems to work okay. Blade speed is slower than expected, but seems right for all the sausages, meats and cheeses i’ve tried with it. The design causes the slices to fall on the back of the unit, and whatever surface is behind.

This came the monday before thanksgiving so we evaluted it with a meatloaf. It performed flawlessly, and is easy to clean. My wife is very happy with the uniformity of the slices. We have a big turkey this year, but my method of carving produces chunks of meat, which we then slice. We’ll give this slicer a real workout tomorrow. I think this is the type of appliance that takes up a lot of counter space, and is used perhaps once a week, so my wife sewed up a cover and we’ll keep it in the basement and bring it up to the kitchen to use. I think it isn’t dangerous to use, but it is wickedly sharp, so we’ve agreed to use it only when there is another person nearby.

For the money a great slicer. Have had for several months now and used it apprx 6 times. As long as the food you slice is very cold it works really well and is capable. It will get hot if used a lot, i was slicing homemade bacon and after 4 lbs i had to stop and vacuum seal the cut pieces while the machine cooled down. Has no issue cutting anything i have throw at it. Considering the price this is a excellent unit.

Works perfect for slicing my home-made bacon.

This machine is better than what i expected for the price. I use it for slicing home grilled and smoked meats for deli style sandwich meat, like roast beef, turkey breast, pastrami, brisket, etc. I also use it to slice hard cheeses such as cheddar, provolone, and pepper jack. This slicer handles like a champ. The slide arm glides smoothly, i don’t have to exert very much pressure while slicing. The blade cuts paper thin slices of beef with the piece intact, no shredding. In fact there is very little shredding overall.

Just got the continental professional series deli slicer (model ps77711) delivered (yea for prime). Anticipating the delivery, i already had a slab of meat (about a 5lb oblong in shape roast) trimmed (absolutely no bones) in the fridge ready to cut to make jerky. Excited, i quickly began to tear open the box and was super easy to set up. Did a quick wipe down, reviewed the equipment to make sure everything was set up correctly, adjusted the blade several ways (very easy) to gage the thickness i was wanting and then. I went fairly slow based on other reviews and if you have have watched someone slice meat a smooth semi slow motion worked great. It also is much easier when the meat was very cold (not frozen), keep in mind i was slicing the meat for jerky, so a ham or such already cold would work great. I could see where cheese or certain types of cheese would not work as well.

Here’s a trick for cleansing. This minimal slicer did just what it can be supposed to do – it slices effortlessly and was just proper for my property-smoked bacon. Nonetheless i observed cleaning it a minor tough considering that only the blade and the basic safety manual arrive off. The rest can only be wiped down. The blade is tricky to get off, but i understood that the two little slots on the blade lock are precisely the same distance aside as the prongs of the plug, and that would make it significantly simpler to clear away. I am not sure if that is a coincidence or if it was done intentionally, but in possibly situation it will work (and it can be a wonderful basic safety reminder to unplug the unit prior to cleaning it too). Just never damage the plug in the process. Also, turn the blade lock clockwise to eliminate it. In any situation, be watchful – that blade is sharp and cumbersome.

Professional slicer at house owner costs. Acquired some corned beef and sliced it up deli-fashion for husband’s lunches and he is as thrilled as i am. The shipping of the products surpassed expectations (arrived a working day before than promised). The only detrimental i have is that the ‘manual’ that arrived with it leaves a little something to be wished-for. But a little bit of description as to how it suits alongside one another would be great. I have this concern of slicing my hand when cleaning and want to make absolutely sure i’m executing it appropriately, so that piece of facts would be tremendously useful.

It took a handful of instances slicing meats and cheeses to get the sense of this solution, but now that i applied it 4 or five occasions, i am happy i have it. I use it to slice leftover brisket and tri-idea into sandwich slices. I also obtain 3 lb chunks of black forest or honey ham and slice it up. The cheese was hardest to ‘learn’, but can now make slices so thin you can read via them. It is not as effective as the $a thousand+ slicer at the community deli, but it can be a great resource to have all around — and well well worth the dollars. It really is a minor function to clear up following use, but not much too bad. Maybe some sausage to take in by the slice or to place on pizza.

Not fully contented with results on the first two occasions i employed the slicer. . I bought the slicer to slice smoked meats that i prepare in my back garden smoker and geared up retail outlet-acquired smoked meats. I have only utilised the slicer twice. To start with time was with keep acquired meat which i hand held and sliced 1/four inch thick to set into my campfire bean recipe. The second time i used it was to slice garlic bologna, which i had smoked on the again garden smoker. It was a chunk of bologna about 5 inches in diameter and an inch and a 50 percent thick. I was not profitable in slicing the bologna as slim as i needed and the slices were tapered i. , thinner on a person edge, not even across the full slice diameter. About an 1/eighth of an inch on one edge tapering to one/thirty second on the opposite edge. Also as i ongoing to slice the chunk of bologna, at the time the piece i was slicing obtained to be only one/2 inch thick it spun through the slicer and resulted in center remaining taken out from the remaining chunk of meat. Unquestionably not the presentation i was making an attempt to obtain. Probably with a lot more observe i’ll be in a position to improve on the benefits, but on my original attempts to use the slicer i was unhappy in the end result.

I acquired this slicer to minimize beef briskets that i experienced produced into corned beef, and for roasts, hams, etc. For the value i paid, i sense that it did the task properly adequate but i was nonetheless rather upset. I believe that it is sluggish and not very well made. One of the evaluations i go through claimed that the reviewer experienced to exchange the on off switch. This does not surprise me because the change is situated in these kinds of a position that, as you minimize, the the juice and excess fat, and so forth. , collects way too near to the on/off change. It really should have been positioned on the other facet of the equipment. I will require to be very careful to preserve this area dry as i reduce. The blade is significant obligation and effortlessly eliminated for cleansing.

Worthless for slicing pork belly (bacon). We made a decision to make our personal bacon at property by paying for pork belly and likely by means of the course of action of brining, curing and cigarette smoking and then slicing it into a variety of thicknesses. This is not the device for this intent. I’m sure this slicer has its employs but makin’ bacon aint 1 of them. So, if that was your thought, search elsewhere. The rpm is far too slow and the blade will just not minimize an even slice of bacon from the pork stomach. I considered this would make the slicing occupation quick but all it did was make a lot more of a mess, take a lot more time and trigger a large amount of stress trying to get even a solitary excellent slice of bacon from it. The meat sticks to the blade slowing it down and even when attempting to move it quite slowly and gradually it just mangled the slices. I finished up just working with a really sharp, lengthy knife to cut the slices and it went a lot more quickly.
