Bonavita 1 : “Easy-open flip top lid for easy filling”– After removing the broken hinges!

Good product while it lasts. Was quite happy with this kettle, very convenient that you can set temperature to preset, and also hold it. Very intuitive to use, however, it died after around 1. While this is not as quick of a demise as other report here, it is still way faster than other kettles i have had. And considering that this is a very expensive kettle, i would expect a higher reliability. Bottom line: expect great service, but not high reliability.

Wonderful, except for one thing. I looked through a lot of teapots before i found this one. I love being able to have hot water whenever i’d like, and also having it shut off automatically so there’s no worry about anyone leaving a boiling pot or kettle unattended. (it’s happened)i love that this is stainless steel. It’s great that it has variable temperature. It’s easy enough to figure out and use that everyone in my house gets the water they want. I wish it were all steel, with no plastic at all. I can figure out easily enough how much water is needed by looking inside. My major concern – it broke shortly after it arrived. This means it takes longer to boil, so wastes water, electricity, and tests our patience. We’ve figured out a way to jiggle it and coerce it so we can close the lid most times. We run the risk of burning ourselves doing this. For this price, it should be made better. I’ve only had it a few weeks and i hope this is the last thing that breaks.

A very helpful kettle for making tea. This is the second one i have had by this manufacturer. I was at fault for the demise of my first kettle. I balanced it precariously and left it to fill. It fell over on the side of the top and broke the hinge of the lid, which is made of plastic. I bought a replacement from amazon and was able to put it right on the base when it arrived and viola, not a hitch. I enjoy being able to set the temp for the water and come back whenever and the kettle is holding at that temp. I am not great at green tea, but i know green tea needs a lower temp, so just setting the kettle at the right temp helps a lot. The first kettle performed reliably for at least a year. The new one is performing just as expected.

Replaced broken unit immediately. . Update: i filled out the warranty information at bona vita’s site. They shipped my new kettle out immediately. I received it in a matter of days. So i changed my 3 star rating to 5 stars. I believe they need to fix the plastic design that pops the top open and closed. I give it 5 stars anyway, because no other kettle can do what this one can. It’s the top of the line, it’s only $35 and their customer service rocks.

I also have a cuisinart perfect temp kettle- i have two homes and rather than carry the kettle back and forth i bought this one. I use it about 3-4 days a week as i use a french press for coffee. The pros:-inexpensive, it works-it shows you the current temperature of the water-you can set the temperature to whatever temperature you like, as opposed to preset options like on the cuisinart. -it remembers the last temperature you set. The cons:-the biggest one is it has a funny odor. I washed it three times prior to use. And after two months you can still smell (maybe a weld, or flux??) it may be in the electronic part- that being said the water doesn’t taste funny. -i prefer preselected temperature options. -it does not beep when done-it does not reheat on it’s own – so if you stepped away it could drop from 204 degrees to 198 degrees within several minutes.

So far this kettle is really good. There are many reviews indicating common failures of. So far this kettle is really good. There are many reviews indicating common failures of this product including blown fuse on the heating element, broken latch for the lid, and rust spots. I’ve been using this product for a few weeks, 3 or 4 times a day, and have not seen any of these particular issues happen yet. The 4 star review instead of a 5 star is because the one common issue i do see is that the kettle will reach the pre-set temperature by quickly heating the water up 15 degrees(f) below the set temperature and then it will slowly increase the heat for the next 15 degrees until it hits it’s target temperature. This is no more than a few minutes, but it can be problematic if you’re impatient. Setting the desired temperature to +15 degrees over what you want will get around this.

Amazingly easy to use, brilliantly made, very user friendly. I’m a big coffee drinker, and this is a great device. I actually purchased this one as a gift for my father-in-law. The version i had is almost identically, except for it’s narrow spout. I prefer using the narrow spout for when i make my pour over coffees. This review applies to both products, since the difference is only in the shape of the spout. The bonavita is an excellent brand, that i’ve grown to like more and more, and this item is no exception. I make coffee every morning at work. We actually have a very large, expensive, commercial-sized italian espresso machine at work, but for straight coffee, i like to make it myself, and in the form of a pour over. So the first thing i do is get the water boiling.

The electronic controls are simple. The heating element and thermostat work fine so far. Too bad the manual lid release sticks like chewing gum on a july sidewalk. The problem is a tiny, black plastic rod inside the lid that should move more freely. I can coax the lid with my finger (is that what they mean by”digital” ?), and it will open. I can also hang onto the receipt while i decide whether i want to return the kettle.

Bonavita provides the best bang for your buck. I own both the variable temperature kettles from bonavita – the 1l gooseneck kettle and the 1. This particular unit is great for making french press coffee. It has a wonderfully large capacity compared to the smaller gooseneck kettle. It’s well made, easy to clean, and it’s so easy to dial in the exact temperature you need, press the “hold” button”, and walk away. Brings water to a boil much faster than a stove top kettle, too. The boiling chamber of this kettle is entirely stainless steel except for 2 silicone gaskets over the handle’s screws. There is no plastic in contact with the boiling water – a big plus in my book.

Easy to use, holds up, and accurate. Easy to use, holds up well over time with lots of use, and accurate temperature read out. We have been using this for 7 months solid with good results. What more can you ask for with precision coffee and tea brewing?.The inductive heating is very useful. I have even seen these in use in laboratories recently. Tips: be sure to keep the plastic cover to ensure waterproof protection of the base, and try to use filtered water only for a better taste.

Would give 5 stars except failed in less than 3 months. . I really like the way this worked but it failed after less than 3 months. Luck of the thermal fuse draw i guess. It was replaced under warranty. Keep in mind that this device is water cooled – even though its purpose is to heat water. If it goes dry, the thermal fuse will likely blow. So be careful, pay attention to the minimum water level (which i did but it failed anyway). I used the pot in two ways, to make water for a french press or for tea. If i was standing around the kitchen i would set the temperature higher than i wanted, and then remove it from the base when it hit the mark. It takes a minute or so longer to get to the set temperature, as others have pointed out, because the unit starts to cycle the heat about 15 degrees below the set point.

Perfect for tea and immersion style coffee brewing. I had already owned the bonavita 1-liter variable temperature electric gooseneck kettle for a little over a year when i ordered this variable kettle. For pour overs, such as kalita, chemex, or v60, it is hard to beat the control offered by a gooseneck kettle and i would suggest that kettle for manual brewing at home. I’ve loved using the gooseneck and it has been a great addition to my morning ritual. For durability, we used the bonavita gooseneck multiple times every day at my last coffeehouse job with no issues at all. So, i trust the bonavita name. But, on to this bonavita kettle: i purchased this kettle for office use, where i generally brew tea and attempt to keep my brewing paraphernalia to a minimum. The variable temperature controls are excellent for choosing parameters for brewing different teas and i’ve found the kettle to be good for clever, aeropress, and french press brewing, where pour control is less of an important factor (in my opinion). Some reviewers have complained about the plastic inside the boiling chamber – but these appear to be silicone gasket rings on the water gauge.

Does one thing, and does it well. This is a very well designed kettle whose primary design goal was clearly to very accurately heat water to a specified temperature and keep it there. Every feature and control clearly speaks to that goal and it all works together seamlessly to achieve it. The controls are simple, intuitive, quick, and easy to use. The desired temperature can be easily set using the preset button to cycle through the five preset temperatures and then, if desired, further customize by one degree increments. The readout displays the current water temperature rather than the target which is usually quite nice, but can be slightly annoying on rare occasions. The handle stays cool even when keeping water at a near boil for many hours. There were some things about the kettle that i have not seen mentioned in many places, if any. There is a plastic water level window under the handle, though it doesn’t seem to affect the taste of the water any. There is also a plastic strainer assembly inside the spout and above the maximum water level.

My spouse bought this for me in september, and i enjoy it so substantially, i told him i’d take into consideration it to be my xmas present. Absolutely nothing could prime itit is large. If i am making a cuppa just for myself, i fill it so the water just covers the temp reader within. It functions good for one+ cup or a whole pot. The only slight annoyance is that there is no sign when the water has arrived at the sought after temp, but as very long as you make sure to simply click the ‘hold button’ when you set the temp, then that is not a big challenge.

Does its occupation exceptionally very well. I almost certainly would in no way have bought this at whole price, but i am pretty happy i acquired it and would most likely think about repurchasing if something each and every occurred to this just one. I received actually into espresso and desired superior temperature management and to have metallic-dependent equipment for preparing my espresso. There are minimal plastic bits in this (the meter demonstrating how complete it is, for example), but warm h2o shouldn’t occur into get hold of with them for any extended interval except you overfill the pitcher the inside of the container alone is very a great deal straight steel components of the outside are also a durable plastic. The temperature handle seems dependable–i don’t have a thermometer with which to measure to assure that it’s exact, but it appears to be dependable across a number of utilizes at the same temperature, and i discover a distinction at distinct settings. Total, i have identified this to be genuinely properly-manufactured, with good temperature management and it creates coffee, tea, and incredibly hot cocoa with great taste (assuming i have usually organized it well, of course).

Works fantastic, but high-quality is questionable. . I would give the performance 5 stars, but i am giving three for the reason that of quality. This kettle heats h2o about as rapidly as probable specified 110v retailers, and it really is great at heating to a precise temperature. It really is easy to use, simply connects to the foundation, and seems pleasant. That becoming mentioned, the to start with one lasted about 6 months of as soon as or twice a day use, at which position, the heating aspect broke. My second just one has lasted about ten months, and the plastic hinge on the include broke, but it can be nevertheless useable.

Excellent warranty and shopper experience. I use this kettle to make pour over espresso every single morning. It heats the drinking water to accurately what temp i established it to and retains at that temp inside of about two minutes. The only grievance i have about the item is the lid that is introduced by the button on the handle. Just after about 6 months of using the kettle, the hinge for the lid broke off. I’m giving five stars for the reason that of the warranty bonavita. Excellent encounter getting in touch with them as a result of amazon. I obtained a prompt response through electronic mail and experienced a replacement in 5 times with no concerns asked. The substitution was a manufacturer new kettle and operates like a champ.

Bonavita offers the greatest bang for your buck. I have each the variable temperature kettles from bonavita – the 1l gooseneck kettle and the one. This individual device is good for earning french push coffee. It has a wonderfully massive capacity in comparison to the scaled-down gooseneck kettle. It is very well manufactured, effortless to clean up, and it’s so uncomplicated to dial in the specific temperature you have to have, push the ‘hold’ button’, and wander absent. Provides drinking water to a boil much more quickly than a stove top rated kettle, too. The boiling chamber of this kettle is totally stainless steel apart from for two silicone gaskets around the handle’s screws. There is no plastic in get in touch with with the boiling h2o – a big plus in my reserve.

Would give five stars except failed in fewer than three months. . I really like the way this labored but it failed right after fewer than 3 months. Luck of the thermal fuse attract i guess. It was changed under guarantee. Maintain in thoughts that this device is h2o cooled – even although its objective is to warmth water. If it goes dry, the thermal fuse will probable blow. So be thorough, pay consideration to the bare minimum water degree (which i did but it unsuccessful in any case). I utilized the pot in two methods, to make water for a french push or for tea. If i was standing close to the kitchen area i would set the temperature better than i preferred, and then clear away it from the base when it strike the mark. It requires a moment or so lengthier to get to the established temperature, as others have pointed out, mainly because the device begins to cycle the warmth about fifteen levels under the set stage.
