Aroma Housewares AFD-615 5-Tier Rotating Food Dehydrator – fast

This dryer was one of the best things i have bought in a longtime. The one i had previous took twice as long to dry than this modeli made batches of jerkey and it was done in half the time of the old one. I think thats do to the rotation ofthe tiers, how long will it last is a matter of time i hope forever,if not i will purchase another.

I ordered this dehydrator to make beef jerky. I’ve made five or six batches so far, have liked the results, and have not experienced any problems. The instructions need to be improved though. While there is only one power setting (on or off), you have the option of creating vent space between stacked trays, or not having vent space. I can’t find anything in the instructions about when you would or would not want to increase the height of the stack to create vent space. This has lead to me experimenting, and getting wildly different dry times. I’m still not sure what the best way to do it is, but it does seem to have a big effect on drying time. All the batches have been dried properly, i just have no idea when they will be done.

All descriptions of electrical appliances should state the watts consumed and the area of shelf space. We want to buy the most efficient but only some include that information now. Here are the specifications for the Aroma Housewares AFD-615 5-Tier Rotating Food Dehydrator:

  • Make sure this fits
    by entering your model number.
  • Large capacity
  • Simple, one-touch operation
  • 5 rotating trays with automatic dual-rotation
  • Clear vented lid for easy monitoring
  • Great for trail mix, dried fruits and vegetables, beef jerky, custom potpourri, dried herbs and spices and so much more!
  • Includes 5 adjustable-height trays, 1 fruit roll sheet and 1 drying screen

I was hesitant to buy reading what some of the past reviewers had written but i feel like i did well here. The thing was well packed from the factory and amazon threw it in another box for good measure. That is why i like amazon they don’t mind adding a box if it will prevent a return. The dehydrator itself is a very simple and easy to use device, stack food you want to dry on the trays, hit the switch and watch it spin for 30 minutes in a hypnotic trance. (that last part is optional). It gets up to operating temp quickly and is relatively quiet. It has a blower and moving plastic parts people- it’s not silent. It was really squeaky at first but after running for a few hours it got much much quieter, can’t hear it running in the next room. The way people had said the trays were broken etc i expected part of the thing to be glass but all the parts are plastic.

This item was packaged well, arrived in one piece, and was easy to assemble. During use the blower isn’t really that loud, kind of sounds like a muffled hair drier. However, there is a serious fault with the item. The racks are rotated by a center pivot. The bottom tray locks into the the square pivot, and there is a series of wheels that it rests on so that the tiers can spin. On my unit, the pivot is slightly off center, which means that one side of the trays is loose from the bottom, and the other side is rubbing against the side of the bottom (which squeaks). At first, i thought that the tray was warped, but you can see that the pivot is off by 3-5 mm. Because when the trays rotate, they bind, which means that they stop rotating, and the food isn’t evenly dehydrated. The warm blower is only in part of the base, so if the machine stops, you will get a quarter of the tray dry, and the rest is still moist.

Reviews from purchasers :

  • My Older One Was Better Quality
  • nothing missing, nothing broken, works perfectly, making jerky right now!
  • Multiple Tiers (5) in this Food Hydrator

This was a gift to my dad; he really likes it, but it took 24hrs for it to fully cook his jerky. So, if you want a dehydrator specifically for jerky & don’t want to wait an entire day, get a dehydrator that has control settings on it.

Dried carrot pulp & parsley overnight. Comes with the fruit leather dry & a small mesh screen for drying things like herbs & carrot pulp.

This was a gift for my daughter who lives in another state. She and her friends have been having a great time making jerky, dried fruits and veggies for their camping trips.

Great way to preserve and store seasonal vegetables, fruits, and even frozen baggedvegetables. Can mix the array of veggies, fruits, depending upon your supply onhand when wanting to save and store foods for future rehydrating for quick meals. This is possible, using the aroma afd-615 5-tier rotating food dehydrator. Bigtrays for dehydrating large amounts of foods at once. Saving valuable time from repetative preparing, dehydrating, and cleaning of utensils. Packaging of this item was excellent and have no complaints with the way itfunctions. I did take a tip from another reviewer and put a little vegetable oilover the rotation part and have no ‘sqeaking sound’ at all. Now, i’m off to dehydrate some potatoes today.

Does a much nicer job of drying.

We have dried mushrooms (my wife is russian and knows the difference between good and bad mushrooms), made beef jerky and dried bananas and other fruit.

The trays are made of #7 plastic if i knew i would not purchase this. I am an organic vegan converting to raw and it makes no sense to eat food with bpa leeched into it =(. I am going to save up for an excalibur realizing this doesn’t really hold that much.

If it were not for the directions that come with this item it would be 5 star. I had to spend a lot of time finding how to use it on the internet. I find it almost useless at this time for drying fruit. Maybe i will get some more info to help me figure out how to do that. So far after cooking bananas and apples for over 20 hours each, i still do not get the desired results. Meat (beef) however comes out the way i like it.

I read the reviews on this product before purchasing and was a little skeptical noting the squeeking and the ‘easily breakable’ trays. I haven’t broken a tray yet, just be gentle with them. As for the squeek, try a little pam on the wheels under the bottom tray and the squeeks are gone. The only thing i would consider differently in the future is purchasing a unit with a built in timer.

I use this product rather often to make my special beef jerky. Mmmmmm the product works well and has caused no concerns or troubles. The only negative comment is that is a bit under powered for humid regions that only means longer drying times than you might expect).

I purchased this dehydrator from amazon back in 2011. I have since then, used this almost atleast 1 to 2 times monthly. There has yet to be any flaws with it. It arrived well packaged and everything was there. I immediately washed it and put it to use. I have made anything from deer jerkey, beef jerky, dried fruit and vegetables, to turkey, chicken, and buffalo jerkey. I am an avid hunter and use this quite often. The machine is simple to use with only one plug and a power button. The only downside to this dehydrator is that the bottom tray can only be used on the bottom. This is due to the notches it has to keep it turning.

I ordered this because i wanted to make jerky for my grandson who is serving in afghanistan. There is a family history of hypertension so i wanted to make sure he didn’t have too much sodium in the jerky i sent. This was a very easy way to do that because i could control the amount of salt used. This is easy to use and clean and the directions for use are easy to understand. The price is good and the shipping was well packaged and quick. The only down side i could see is that the instruction booklet did not include any recipes, but that was easily remedied by searching the web.

Originally bought the dehydrator for some serious jerky making, but the roomies have used it for fruit and veggies, too. Only thing is the trays are a pain to clean. I’m currently enjoying pieces from our fourth batch of beef jerky.

I have tried a lot of fruit and vegetable dryers but this one is the best. The constant rotation dries pretty evenly top to bottom. I still rotate the racks as the bottom dries faster but love that it is so fast. I’ll never buy one that is stationery again.

I have an aroma dehydrator that i love, but my bottom tray broke. Anyone know where to get more trays for this brand?.

I read a lot of reviews about this dehydrator before i bought it, and honestly most of them were very misleading. I got my dehydrator in perfect condition. It works awesome, and it’s very cheap. I have already made beef jerky and apple chips in my dehydrator. The first batch of jerky kinda sucked because i didn’t read the directions that come with the dehydrator, but the second batch was freaking awesome. I think that with this dehydrator you more then get your moneys worth.

Cuisinart 7 Speed Hand Mixer – I like this mixer a lot but a few months after

Wish the beaters were a little more sustantial–otherwise seems to work better than a spoon.

We’ve used the mixer a few times and it seems to well-built and easy to use. We would recommend it, especially since america’s test kitchen (reportedly) did also.

I like this mixer a lot but a few months after my warranty expired, it became defective. One of the beaters would not stay in the mixer. Company says it cannot be repaired. Guess i’ll have to buy a new one.

This is something that we don’t use very often so we don’t know how long it will last. We looked it up in the consumer reports ratings where we subscribe and they rated it as good so we went by their ratings in this purchase.

I do not have the cupboard space for a large stationary mixer. I recommend it to those who need a smaller unit. I chose the blue one and it is beautiful.

Unless you want a standing mixer, this is excellent.

  • a few times and it seems to well-built and easy to use

Nice mixer with great beaters. Not sure about the smoothstart feature (eliminates splattering). When starting the beater i received, you have to wait a few seconds after starting for it to rev down.

Has speed options, that slide into place with the new digital controls. Swivel cord at base, keeps cord from getting tangled while you work.

Wish i had bought it befor now. Wasted years using a slower model.

It has a lot of power, best hand mixer i’ve owned.

Smooth, strong deliver by motor. You might want to use a deeper bowl than you have with other mixers. With the beaters provided, it does sling food around the top.

I am vert happy with the performance of my new hand mixer, however i have a ‘heads up’ for any future shoppers. The item came with two beaters and a whisk. I could have saved 5 bucks if the description of the unit mentioned that the whisk was included. I assumed it wasn’t and ordered it in addition.

Absolutely delighted with this mixer. It replaces a thirty year old cuisinart 3 speed mixer that i feel sad about discarding. I wore it out and have many fond memories with it. The stainless steel beaters are identical between both models and to the person who wondered how sturdy they were, trust me, the old ones are still perfect. I have many pieces of their chef classic stainless cookware from amazon. It looks just like all clad and i love iti purchased this from golda’s kitchen and they were most caring, checking up on fedex to ensure the package was on its way. I would be more than happy to order from them again.

I am a fan of america’s test kitchen. They recommended this item for a hand mixer, and it delivers. I have recommended to friends, and they also enjoy theirs.

I’ve had my cuisinart hand mixer for over 16 years and it’s worked wonderfully. Everything from batters to mashed potatoes, no job has been to big for this mixer. Not many products get 5 stars from me, but this one does.

Very powerful and solid mixer. Only problem is that it splatters a little bit if you’re not careful. Good value and a quality product.

Seven speed adjustable by digital touch panel allowing to perform tasks small and large

This is an awesome hand mixer. Don’t have room for a stand mixer but you don’t need one with this. It even comes with a balloon whisk attachment.

Excellent mixer, handles stiff batters easily. Bought after purchase of a black friday $5. 00 special that smelled hot after 2 minutes of use.

It works fine, a bit fast on start-up, but not enough to be a problem. Good strength for a portable. So much more handy than hauling out the big one.

Cuisinart mixer seems to be a few steps above others in design and appearance. Wife is very pleased with product. Wisk type beaters are easy to clean.

Swivel cord for right-handed or left-handed use

ANKARSRUM Original AKM 6220 Stand Mixer – Five Stars

I really like it but am still in the learning curve. You can watch videos until you are blue in the face but you still need to put in the time. The video that came with the mixer is, apparently, not quite the right size and wouldn’t play in my dvd player. In fact, now i can’t get it out of the player so will probably have to take the whole thing in for repair. That has been very disappointing. I like the second bowl, clear plastic, for conventional mixing. Everything is easy to take apart and clean. I use the stainless steel bowl and roller for bread and did a 5 loaf batch of oatmeal bread. The mixer did an outstanding job and i appreciated not having to knead that huge lump of dough by hand. Most of the videos i have watched have recommended not using the dough hook and just stick with the roller.

This is a wonderful machine. I’ve used a bosch for the last nine years; it has worked well and i have no complaints about it’s build. Occasionally i’d get frustrated with trying to clean the dough hook, but the machine always worked well. I was doing research into different bakeries and their mixing techniques, specifically looking at ‘diving arm’ mixers. Considered by many to be the coup de grace of bread mixers, i wondered if i could fit one in my kitchen. While doing the research, i ran across the ankarsrum/electrolux. I was intrigued by the dough roller and scraper combination. I was also intrigued that this machine has been in production since 1940. The dough roller is supposed to be akin to knuckles kneading the dough. The spring loaded arm is quite an interesting device and i would consider it an analog of the ‘diving arm’ of the previously described mixer.

Very satisfied with my purchase it can handle the multigrain sourdough i make each week. I have not tried the other components yet. I selected it because of its strong motor and ability to handle heavy dough. My kitchen aid mixer(small standing) did not have a large enough bowl and the motor kept running hot.

The ankarsrum mixer is everything we hoped to get in a mixer. It’s easy to use and it is really durable. I love that the motor is at the bottom at the machine (as opposed to the kitchenaid mixer) because it means you can leave it alone while its mixing.

My girlfriend is the ‘baker’ in this house and i purchased this for her as a gift at christmas. We are both great (as we see it) cooks and we both like to have the right tool for the job on any given cook, so we don’t cut a lot of corners in the kitchen. Bread baking is her favorite cooking experience and she really likes her kitchenaid mixer, even with the pro 600 model of that mixer, it doesn’t always do a great job with larger batches of bread dough. She showed me this mixer in a video on youtube and said ‘i bet this thing would work every time. ‘ i decided to add one of these to her christmas loot and i think it might have been the best decision i have ever made when it comes to buying her stuff for the kitchen. The mixing bowl has a 7 quart capacity as compared to her 6 quart kitchenaid. The only time she ever uses her kitchenaid now is when she’s making a triple batch of swiss merengue butter cream that she uses in cake frostings. The kitchenaid capacity handles that better than the accessory bowl with the wisk beaters on the ankarsrum. Other than that, she has totally switched to this mixer for everything else she mixes.I’m reaping the rewards of this mixer regularly with tasting experiments on artisan breads and other treats.

I use mine three times a week and it’s perfect dough every time.

  • Hard to pronounce, but a joy to use.
  • I absolutely L-O-V-E this stand mixer!
  • Very cool bread mixer.

The ankarsrum mixer was awarded 3 points because the dough hook and recipe book are definitely not 5- or even 4-star. The dough hook could use some redesign: it simply does not knead the dough as claimed by ankarsrum; instead, the dough collects in a large wad that defies kneading. The recipe book is a huge disappointment. When one spends $600 for a mixer, a reliable and concise recipe book is expected. The ankarsrum recipe book is neither. I’ve made several bread recipes from it that only years of baking experience rescued from the dust bin. Now, i find myself nervously evaluating a recipe before i even decide to try it. Unlike the traditional stand mixers, the ankarsrum requires different mixing procedures. Unfortunately, the ankarsrum recipe book provides no instruction about these differences. Instead one has to watch a video, and just how convenient is that?.

Most of my bread is 70% whole wheat i grind with my nutrimill. The kitchen aid hd simply doesn’t have the power to mix more than 1 small loaf at a time. With this i can make a 6 loaf batch quickly and easily. It mixes much differently than most all other mixers out there. But once you figure it out, you will be in love with this machine for basic mixing and kneading. I ordered a second stainless steel bowl and roller and scraper so i can make 2 batches of 2 different things back to back. Tip:you can mix most anything using the roller against the side of the bowl. When mixing bread dough, the ingredients will mix together very quickly in under 15 seconds at which time you must adjust the roller 1′ from the side of the bowl. When the roller is adjusted away from the bowl like this you are in ‘kneading’ mode. If you fail to do this, the bread dough will climb out of the bowl. Once you do this, it is not a problem. This mixtures like pie fillings can be done in ‘mix’ mode with the roller against the side of the bowl. Like many people i never use the dough hook.

I am not skilled at making bread, yet i have made it by hand for 8 years. All i can say is that every time i use i am smiling. Breads, cookies, pasta and pizza are so easy now that i want to cook more. Why didn’t i do this years ago?.

A lot better than our kitchen aid mixer.

Once you go through the short learning curve this machine is great. Most videos and recommendations were to use the drum roller and scraper for bread but i wasn’t having good luck with that. I swithced to the dough hook and that worked great. I occasionally had the dough creep up the hook a little bit but i’m sure i’ll figure that out. It was only after i added flour when the dough had been kneaded because it came out too sticky.

I just got it yesterday, i have made a cake and my first batch of bread. The only thing i am regretting is that i have waited so long to get this wonder mixer. It is very powerful, yet simple. All the parts and accessories are well made and look very sturdy. It does have some plastic parts, but don’t be afraid it’s an extremely sturdy plastic. I have a kitchenaid 7qt mixer, which is being listed on ebay. The price might be a bit high, but trust me you will not regret this purchase. You will never want to use another mixer.

I love it – my bread is very soft. Would recommend it to anyone who is serious about bread making.

I contemplated quite a while before deciding to go ahead with this purchase. This thing is a workhorse and works exactly as advertised by the manufacturer and dealers. There is nothing that it can’t handle in my kitchen and i love it. Some have indicated that the dough hook is difficult to work with but if you follow the instructions closely and experiment a bit it will be worth it.

Killed one kitchenaid, rebuilt another kitchenaid pro three times. Hesitated before buying this – it’s an investment. It is a different way of mixing, but it didn’t take long to get the tricks down. I considered the bosch, which my mom has and loves, but this one is counter worthy, and the old school aesthetics really appealed to me.

The only consumer mixer i know of in which the motor moves the bowl and not the beater(s) (although it will do that too for light mixing), so there are no planetary gears to break. I use it to make high-gluten ‘beaten biscuit’ dough that would bring a kitchenaid pro to its knees. Probably the most robust home mixer in the world. If you can afford it, buy it.

Should last several lifetimes.

Continuous speed control and timer knobs

This is ideal for the stiff pizza dough that i like to make. It does a far better job of kneading than my old kitchenaid did with the ‘c’ hook, and the ka overheated and quit when i tried the spiral hook (although the kneading did seem more through up until that point). I’ve had the ankarsrum for several months now, and many batches of dough. I really like it: it just does it all without breaking a sweat, and it’s much quieter than the kitchenaid, to boot. Cleaning is easy, too, and i think the footprint is even a little smaller than the ka. I just wish that i had bought this a long time ago.

This mixer is unlike anything i’ve used before. Everything mixes so nice and being able to see your bread dough or whatever you’re making makes a huge difference in the outcome. I watched numerous you tube videos both before and after my purchase which helped with the learning curve. My first few attempts didn’t provide spectacular results but after understanding it more my results are fabulous. There’s no unmixed flour in the bottom like my previous mixer, the kneading for bread is superior to my previous mixer as well. I highly recommend this mixer, it also has a 5 year warranty.

It’s a good product, heavy and strong. Came complet as they apear at the comercial and you can make perfect cakes with the accessories.

Excellent mixer for pizza dough.

I waited a while to save up for this mixer. But it is well worth the money. I use if for bread, cookies and much more. It is very versatile, easy to use and doesn’t take up nearly the room my old kitchen aid did in my cabinet.

Simply the best/better than all the rest.

5 year manufacturer’s warranty

What a huge huge huge step up from my professional 5 kitchenaid. I have had it for over 3 weeks now and have used it for batters and sourdoughs and still cannot believe what an amazing, amazing, amazing machine this is. Even if money is an issue, don’t settle for a ka, seriously, wait a little longer/borrow/save more money but get this mixer, i assure you, you will thank yourself a million times for making this decision.

My husband bought this for his bread making and he absolutely loves it. He doesn’t have to knead by handfor 15 minutes any longer, plus he said the texture is even better.

While clearly not an inexpensive kitchen toy, this engineering masterpiece breezes through whole wheat sour dough that was literally burning up my otherwise sturdy kitchen aid. The mixing action takes a little getting used to (the bowl turns, not the mixing attachments). But it is exactly the right tool for the application.

I’ve gone through five kitchen aid stand mixers over the last 23 years. This runs like it is going to be the last one i buymixing is way different, but once you adjust it is wonderful to use.

It is ankarsrum, what can i say?. So good and solid, very easy to pour ingredients, and less loud and lower frequency than the kenwood and phillips my mom has. I really love itthe only thing to mention is that the cage beater beats faster than other mixers i’ve used and what the recipe instructed, so you need to adjust beating time and check the batter before instructed time (1 or 2 of my cake showed overbeating characteristics before i realized what happened). This is an excellent mixer and i would totally recommend it to everyone who is looking for stand mixer.

The best mixer i have ever owned. It does a wonderful job kneading bread dough, making waffle batter, making carrot or beet salad and is a great fresh orange juice maker.

Top of the line mixer that performs beautifully. I longed for this mixer for a long time before investing the high price tag in it. There’s a slight learning curve to using the roller attachment to make whole grain bread, but youtube has great instructional videos that got me moving in the right direction.

Includes a dough roller, dough knife, dough scraper, dough hook, Dust cover lid, a double beater with a 3.5 liter plastic bowl, balloon and cookie whisks, and a seven liter mixing bowl

Es el mejor equipo de cocina que he visto, es lo mejor que hay hasta ahora, supera a cualquier otro.

Bought this for my wife for her birthday. She used to use a kitchenaid standmixer that did ok but broke down twice probably because she like to bake whole wheat bread. The magic mill has been very reliable and has better gluten development than the kitchen aid ever did. Her breads are much better than she did with the kitchenaid.

Mixes dough nice and light the way dough hook will not. Making whole wheat bread mostly comes out fluffier than before.

Probably the best mixer i have used and i’ve used kitchenaid and bosch and viking. Needs more hands on to use but the result is great.

We make batter breads twice a week and this mixer completely mixes the batter without leaving residue on the sides of the bowl like the ‘kitchenaid’ mixer we had. I could go on about it, but it just plain works better than anything we ever had in the past.

Finally, something that can handle large loads of flour without problems.

Mixes and kneads smooth, silky, elastic dough quickly

All i can say is wow, brought my baking up to the next level. Powerful, quiet, and huge capacity.

This rocks 🙂 i went back and forth for a month trying to decide between this and the bosch. I decided on this one and i absolutely love it. I can make 6 loaves of bread at one time. It can whip up meringue in no time. It has so many different attachments so you can pick the right one to meet your mixing needs. Love that it has two bowls (and a bowl lid) so when i get into a baking frenzy i don’t have to wait for the other bowl to be washed – i just grab the other one. I love the open bowl design – i can add ingredients easily and see how things are mixing up. This mixer reminds me of the ancient mixer i grew up with as a kid. . But looks and works even better. No complaints :)update: the speed adjustment knob slowly got harder and harder to turn until it completely got stuck and wouldnt turn.

I am very happy with my purchase.

Most expensive mixer i’ve ever bought. We’re using it for mashed potatoes tonight and having so much fun trying it out. I’m looking forward to many years of mixing bread dough for my family. We average 15-20 large loaves a week between our family and a few to share. This is the only mixer that seemed to be able to handle that quantity of bread made with 100% fresh ground flour.

I absolutely l-o-v-e this stand mixer. Wish i would have had this years ago. We have a bread-roll recipe that we love during the holidays. With my old stand mixer i could only make one batch at a time. With this one i can make four batches. We have ten people in our family and they all seem to think that they need their own bag full of rolls to take home after christmas. Very powerful motor, very easy cleanup, quiet, very easy to assemble and disassemble the parts. I only wish that someone would make a washable cover to keep the kitchen greases and dust off of my new mixer.

Making bread is so easy with this mixer.

This mixer is everything that i wanted. I was planning on using it for my bread making only. It makes the creamiest mashed potatoes. Wish that i had bought one of these 40 years ago.

I have only used this to make bread, muffins, buns and cakes but i love this mixer. I also have a kitchenaid that i almost broke making bread. I still use it for other things like whipped cream, meringues and such. But i use this mixer most of the time. I love how easy it is to put ingredients in while it is mixing, there is no danger of getting your measuring cup broken, and it gently kneads the dough.

Sorry aurocorrect on last post. After the costco kitchenaid broke kneading a bread loaf we bought the ankarsrum instead and couldn’t be happier.

Wolfgang Puck Rechargeable Wine Opener – Very smart purchase!

Now i have had it a year and it is still working fine, a very good product to have and useful.

Wolfgang puck wine opener, works & look’s great. It also has a cool blue light, it helps your guest find it later in the evening.

We have now given three of these as gifts. This answers the question of what you give someone who has everything. Now, we would not be without ours.

Everything i was looking for and more, especial liked the top remover on the side. I, would highly recommend to friends, delivery was fast and efficient.

I know i need to strengthen my grip but for now this is a solution. It’s the easiest one i have tried. It is readily available, nice appearance on my counter.

Someone sent me one as a gift and i have had such a great time impressing my friends with my fast wine opening. I needed a special gift for a very good friend and the wine opener was my first choice.

  • I am so glad that I purchased this and the quality is great
  • Wine Opener is a big hit in our family!
  • Five Stars

Bought this for my wife and she loved it.

I ordered two, one for our son and one for us. My sister had one when we visited her and that is how i found out about it. Very simple to operate, opens the bottle easily with the touch of a button, then removes the cork from the device by pushing the button in the opposite direction. Highly recommend it to you wine lovers–and it looks pretty cool too with it’s blue glow when charging.

It is very pretty blue when plugged in, this works very good for opening wine and it takes the cork out automatically.

I just opened my first bottle of wine with this rechargeable wine opener. It had to be the first time ever i opened a bottle of wine with such ease. I immediately threw away all of my old corkscrews and openers that i previously owned. I highly recommend this opener.

No effort on my part , this thing does all the work. Great gift idea and the holidays are coming.

Bought this on sale at sam’s club last holiday season. Worked great for a while, but had the same problem as others have had, opener quit accepting a charge and it was only a matter of time before it died. Tried a different charger but no go. Back to my rabbit wine opener.

The wolfgang puck is the easiest wine opening device i have ever used especially for those of us with arthritis.

But the little black thingy that opens the cork covering doesnt work for mebut i have others otherwize works great.

We missed the first so much had to get another one.

I drink a lot of wine and this item has opened a lot of bottles with ease and keeps on ticking.

Works well and attractively styled. Opens bottles rapidly and effortlessly.

My husband has either received or purchased quite a few wine openers over the past years. I saw and used this at a friends house before christmas and in spite of the number of openers he has, i decided to get him one for christmas.

After a very long initial charge, it seems to hold the charge for a long time.

Holds a charge for a long time. I would highly recommend it.

This is the first battery operated cork screw ihave owned. It is a million times easier than the expensive corkscrews i have owned. And, the battery lasts forever – i haven’t recharged mine yet.

I bought this for my daughter for christmas. Reason i choos this one is because it is the same one i have. I had a different similiar wine opener before and ended up sending it to a penny social, because it didn’t work well.

The product worked great for a while until the battery refused to accept a charge. This is true even with the unit plugged in. Is there a way to change the battery?.

Opens up to 40 bottles of wine on a single charge.

Wolf gang puck battery operated wine opener was recommended by a friend, purchased it and it was shipper on time it works as described disappointed it does not have enough reserve power to open a couple of bottles at a time with out recharging.

But we have had to replace after a year.

Great product for great price.

Very happy with this purchase. Not only does it work well but the blue lighting also makes it look very cool. Would highly recommend, don’t know what i did before electric wine bottle openers.

I am so glad that i purchased this and the quality is great. It is such an amazing appliance that will get tons of use for years to come.

This is the envy of all my guests. So easy to use and very compact. Charge as soon as you receive it because it doesn’t come fully charged.

This thing works so well, that i had to buy a few of my friedns one, once they seen and tried ours.

Breville BDC600XL YouBrew Drip Coffee Maker, Feature rich, but small concerns

I bought this brewer about 4 months ago…we are a bit of coffee snobs and thought $$$=:):):). Well, i now have very mixed reviews. We knew this going in, but at 0400 everyone but the deepest of sleepers will awake to the loud 60+ sec loud full pot grind. #2 grounds overflow: i think the design should have a deeper/bigger basket because it is almost always overflowing/messy when you even take the basket out to dump. Too afraid to find out if i actually added a paper basket (when i use pre-ground)=huge overflow. Not always, but sometimes…haven’t been able to completely figure out why some days and not others (we ~90%/time use whole beans + grinder) #4: 12 cups water = mess. We only fill to 11 cups because whenever we fill to 12, it makes an overflow mess all over the counter. #5: coffee in the carafe stays hot consistently for about 2 hours+ (without the ‘hot rinse’).

I have had this coffee pot 6 months and really like it. The only downside isthat it took several days to figure out how to get it to work and about a month until i got the adjustments made to produce my perfect cup of coffee. I love the fact that i can use fresh beans or put in ground coffee. I have even made adjustments so i can throw in a little ground flavored coffee while still using the grinder. Having room to use a travel mug is great too. The customer service is superior. When i tried to clean it as suggested, some part would not open for cleaning. I called cs, they had me make some tests and when they were sure it was defective, told me to pack it up and return it and they’d send me a new one. They promptly sent me a brand new one as soon as they received my return.

Bought this to replace a melita grind and brew, and i’m really glad i did. It makes a good coffee, and allows you to select the strength of your brew. I’m using paper filters instead of just the gold-tone basket that comes with it because i found there were grounds in the bottom of the cup with out them. The single cup brewing option works quite well too;; in addition to strength of the brew, you can select how long it steeps and make a perfect mug of coffee. Some other people have complained that they use too much coffee, but i find that i make a smaller pot for first thing in the morning then make a single mug after breakfast if i want another cup. I’m using less coffee because i used to make a larger pot and often threw part of it away. It’s a little fiddly to get set up like you want, but read the manual; everything you need to know is in there.

Comments from buyers

“Conceptually a great idea, but in practice does not live up to expectations
, Life changing (ok, maybe that’s a slight exaggeration)
, Simply fantastic

So far this coffee pot seems like a winner. The coffee tastes great and the grinder functions as expected. The unit determines how much coffee to grind based on the cups you’re brewing. I knew it was on the bigger side of coffee pots though i was surprised by how tall it is. Measure the height of the unit for the space you have. Not really that much wider than your average coffee pot. The custom options are great. You can select the brew strength. You can also fill the water reservoir to the top though brew the number of cups you desire.

I received my youbrew yesterday and brewed my first cup this morning. My first impression is good. I selected ‘strong’ and can already tell i need to bump it up to ‘intense’. From other reviews i expected the grinder to make some noise. I didn’t think it was that bad though. I have their espresso machine and it makes the same amount of noise. My only new complaint has to do with the one-cup setting. When you use a cup, it doesn’t come like a shirt size (small, medium, and large). Typically the cup is labeled with how many ounces it will hold. I used a 16 ounce cup and went down 2 notches on the size, knowing the max size is 20 ounces. I chose poorly and coffee poured over the top. So why not choose the number of ounces you want?i’ll add more as i go along. . *******update*******i have had the youbrew for several days now. I am very pleased, however, it has caused me to rethink my coffee mug collection.

Firstly, the idea behind this brewer is nearly perfect. Grind, preheat water to correct brew temp, bloom the grounds (steep grounds before extraction), brew. The execution is where things fail. Here’s a listing of good and bad within each step. At first i thought i may have been doing something wrong, and just needed to ‘dial in’ the machine. But, after spending 3 hours of time playing with it the other night, i still cannot get consistent or desired results. My primary desire for this machine was to have an automatic machine that will produce a cup of freshly ground/brewed coffee first thing in the morning. During other times of the day i make coffee with other methods (press pot, pour over/chemex, clever coffee dripper)for reference, i am using mix of columbian supremo (city+ roast) and starbucks verona and yukon blend. 1) grinding – uses flat burr grinder.

To be fair, i have only had this coffee maker for a month. The being said, i absolutely love it. The amount of customization that is possible, is wonderful. The ability to make 6 cups of coffee, and still have 6 cups of water in the reservoir for the next day is a huge time saver. I usually make 2 cups for me in the morning, and just take 4 to work. I use paper filters, but it does come with a gold mesh basket. I also really like the ability to make a single cup, and have a range of coffee mug sizes to choose from. The only thing i am a bit disappointed with, is that you have to continually program the machine when you want it to come on and start making coffee automatically. It’s not set it and forget it. Not a big deal, but it’s the only drawback.

So i rarely write reviews, however felt it necessary to share my absolute love of this coffee maker. We previously had the capresso team which lasted a good 6 years, a wonderful coffee maker untill it just stopped working several weeks ago. I did my due diligence and researched every coffee maker with a grinder out there. I was tempted to just go back to the capresso, but read reviews that were not flattering about the newer versions. The breville had the best reviews out of many, the biggest complaints seemed to be noise with the grinder and other strange malfunctions. We decided to take the leap and get it and couldnt be happier. This blows the capresso out of the water, from the taste of the coffee to the little things like the ridges in the carafe spout that make the liquid flow out without any spillage. While the grinder is a little noisy, its a grinder people i dont know what people expect, it not as loud as the capresso for sure. When i first got it i was afraid it might be complex from the looks of it but its literally point and click, you just add beans and pour the water in, select the strength, press start and boom wonderful coffee. Just a wonderful machinepros: well designed, great coffee, easy to use despite looking complex, easy clean up, easy pouringcons: takes more beans than most.

I have used another major brand of grind and brew coffee maker for a few years. . Or i should say i’ve used several of them from this maker, as the grinder is forever tearing up on it. I went thru 4 under warranty. I finally decided to try this breville version of grind and brew back in 2012. I have meant to report many times how much i love this coffee maker. Two years later and its running strong and gets used at least two or three times a day. You can’t beat the build quality and great cup of coffee that comes from this machine.

I’ve owned the cuisinart grind and brew models for many years. The steaming water always entered the chamber where the beans are ground, requiring the grinding section to be cleaned regularly. Upon reading reviews, i reluctantly tried this model. I was hoping for the best as i have learned to appreciate coffee made from fresh grounds. My wife had adopted to the daily cleaning and preparation required from the old models. We are both delighted with the breville. It is so much easier to operate and clean. It makes great coffee and provides so many easy options for preparation. The coffee bean and grinding chambers remain isolated and clean.

Have been using this for just over a month. Previously i had a very high maintenance jura bean-to-cup maker and got sick of all the coddling that it required to keep running. This machine is nothing like that. It’s really well built and designed for easy cleaning. It brews great coffee with settings that go right up to intense if you need it. Every day after use it requires the grinds to be washed out and the disk that stops the steam from leaving the brew engine once the water is in. Love the design and it has a clear, easy to operate interface. It can make either a cup or a carafe of coffee (needs the same cleaning after both). The insulated carafe keeps the coffee warm for a few hours without burning it, or turning it to syrup.

I must drink decaf, and in my quest for the best cup of coffee, this coffeemaker does a very good job. I have tried everything from old percolator style to high dollar drip coffeemakers. I have had this one for two weeks now. As other customers have noted it does have some quirks. As for using too much coffee and making the coffee too strong when brewing in the carafe, yes it does, if you fill the bean hopper up. I do not leave beans in the hopper. I measure out how much i need for the amount i’m brewing whether in the carafe or in a cup. I adjust the strength button on the coffeemaker to make sure all the beans i put in are ground. There are too many variables, size of beans, amount in hopper, the rate the beans fall into the burr grinder, and grinding time to grind the same amount of coffee beans each time to create a consistent cup of coffee. By taking an extra minute in my morning to measure my beans and add only the amount of water i need, i get a great cup of coffee each morning, consistently.

I’ve had this coffee maker for many months now and i cannot say anything negative about it. My husband likes regular french roast so i fix a pot for him in the morning. Decaf can be a fragile coffee, so i buy beans and use the large cup feature. It grinds it, brews it in the basket, and dispenses it into a thermal coffee mug and it is perfect every time. I have other breville products and they are all outstanding. Great engineering, quality build.

I’ve been using a french press for several years but i was tired of boiling water, waiting for it to steep and then cleaning etc. This machine is like a spa for my coffee making. I was afraid at first that the brew wouldn’t be strong enough after reading several reviews and also when my first carafe looked like it brewed just a few beans. I then brewed a cup instead of a carafe and i had the same issue. The hopper wasn’t feeding into the burr grinder and getting clogged. I then opened the shoot and cleaned out the whole beans stuck in the hopper. I then put the hopper back on and tried it again while sitting the beans until they fell into the grinder. The result was a very dark and steeped cup of coffee. Actually to strong for my bold tastes at the highest level.

Typical robust breville build, lots of stainless steel, less plastic, from a company that knows how to make appliances. Pros:- customizable to a fare-thee-well; if you can’t get a cup or carafe of coffee to your exact taste, you’re doing something wrong. Including the ability to adjust flavor (steeping time) for cups, and flavor and strength (amount of coffee) for cups and carafe, as well as multiple sizes for both. – with this version you can easily brew a partial carafe if you want more than a cup but not a whole pot – just program the number of cups you want to brew; you can start with a full tank. With the glass carafe version: breville bdc550xl the youbrew glass drip coffee maker, you need to add the exact amount of water you intend to use (it empties the tank). If you haven’t used a brew/grind before, get used to some maintenance. This one is one of the easiest i’ve used to clean and maintain, but it’s not a pod machine; couple of minutes after brewing to dump the grounds and rinse the basket holder.

I will start by saying before purchasing the breville bdc600xl a month ago i had used the cuisinart grind n’ brew for almost 7 years. I did my homework and research before purchasing this new coffee maker and always look over several sites with many reviews. Some of the negatives that i read were mainly regarding noise of the grinder and the coffee not being hot enough. I can say from my perspective this is not the case. The cuisinart grind and brew was extremely loud as well so maybe i’m just used to that. And i’m not quite sure other than making coffee in a metal coffee pot over a camp fire how much hotter you could get your coffee. I think the breville is definitely hot and the stainless carafe is a must for me, since the previous cuisinart was also a stainless carafe i could never go back to glass. I don’t like the gold filter as it is messy to clean up so i like many other’s went back to the good ol’ brown paper filters. I also will agree with others that you will use more beans than in a typical grind n’ brew coffee maker, i attribute this to the burr grinder vs.

Despite many negative reviews here, i bought this for our family christmas gift. Made our first carafe of coffee yesterday and we are all thrilled. It was easy to clean and set up. Even my husband doesn’t think it will be a pain and he doesn’t enjoy fiddling with toys just to get a cup of coffee. 1-yes it makes noise when it grinds coffee, but it’s far less noisy than my old krups grinder was and it’s much easier to simply load the whole beans in the back and not worry about transferring the grounds. Not that i ever truly worried about that before, but this is super easy2-this is actually smaller in size than my old kitchen aid pro line drip coffee maker. It’s shorter and smaller in footprint and does much more. I have no problem with this fitting under my cabinets. I put cold creamer in my coffee and it’s stll hot. I did pre warm the carafe and the coffee was still hot 2 hours later. 4-brewed into a cup this morning and it’s so nice to have so many sizes, strengths and intensities to choose from. It remembers your last setting, but allows so many combos that this will be a blast to play with5-far more economical and environmentally friendly than the k-cups are. I’m even considering roasting my own beans so i can kick it up a notch and save even more money to boot.

I have been asking myself for years why coffee maker manufacturers don’t make an ‘all-in-one’ machine that allows the user to choose between ground coffee and whole bean, coffee carafe or coffee cup, small coffee cup or travel coffee cup, etc, etc. Imagine my happiness when i found that breville tackled these questions.I love, love, love this machine. I have had it for about a month now and look forward to using it everyday. I am the only coffee drinker in my household so the various single cup options are fantastic, and when i have coffee drinking company, voila. A carafe full of coffee from the same machine. And, whether it is a cup or a carafe, i can have coffee brewed to meet my taste as well as the tastes of others. Okay, so i do have one small complaint about the entire set up.

First, we are coffee snobs and have tried a multitude of coffee makers, french press etc. This by far makes the best coffee ever. We love the coffee and don’t even mind the noisy grinder. The bottom line is, grinding coffee is noisy. Other coffee makers with grinders are often reviewed as messy, leaving grinds on the counter. I thought i was going to be annoyed by the cleaning because to do it properly is several steps. In addition to the normal rinsing of the carafe and filter there is an area on the machine that where the grounds come out that needs to be wiped each time and a little tray below that needs to be rinsed. Happy to do it to ensure more smooth amazing coffee.

I have owned a lot of different grind-and-brew coffee makers over the years and so far the breville is the best, albiet the most expensive. After a couple of months on the job, the breville has proved capable of making excellent coffee with a minimum of guesswork and elbow grease. This is the first machine i have owned that is really designed for those who want to make less, sometimes much less, coffee than the machine’s capacity of twelve cups. I like being able to simply fill it with water and beans, tell it how many cups to make, and let the machine decide how much water and how many beans to use for each batch. The breville is large and imposing–needs a lot of space on the counter–but is also pleasing to the eye. The big issue with all grind-and-brew coffee machines is cleaning, and moving the coffee grinds smoothly from the grinder to the filter basket and then shutting off the passageway so when the water comes into the basket it does not seep back into the grinder passageway causing clogs from wet coffee grinds. Other machines have multiple parts that must be disassembled for cleaning, and eventually they can break of get clogged with wet coffee grinds. The breville has come up with a simple system with a trap door that opens and closes each time, and that seems to work very well, although even the trap door needs to be wiped down regularly to avoid clogging, something that the directions don’t mention. The only component that is removed for cleaning is the filter basket which is easy to rinse under the kitchen faucet. Also, periodic descaling is done with white vinegar instead of expensive high-end cleaning solvents which many other brands recommend.

We have had several brands & models of coffee makers through the years and not been completely satisfied with any of them. Then my wife bought a breville toaster which has elevated making toast in a way i couldn’t have imagined. It simply has convenience features no other toaster possesses. Then we saw the coffee maker in a kitchen supply store and started researching the coffee maker universe. To start, it’s expensive and physically imposing. If those two things are important, go no further. I downloaded the owner’s manual from the breville website & watched the online videos. Somebody at breville had gathered all the possible problems you can suffer with a coffee maker and designed a unit that eliminated them. And, the unit has instructions printed anywhere on the unit that you might need help. The control panel virtually eliminates screw-ups on your behalf and makes using it quite simple.

I absolutely, positively love this coffee maker. I agonized for months over spending this much money to replace an appliance that cost $45. What really drew me to this machine were the integrated bean grinder, the ability to brew a single cup without having to use k-cups, and the customization options. Like our mattress (where he prefers a softer surface and i’m happiest with something equivalent to concrete), my husband and i have differing views on what makes a great cup of coffee. I cannot tell you how many times i made a pot of coffee in the morning only to have my husband turn his nose up at it. We were spending may too much at coffee houses where we could each get our own concoction. That’s how i justified the expense. I figured it would cut down on our coffee-shop spending. Prosit makes a great cup of coffee.

I rarely write these reviews, but i thought i should given the large number of very high and very low reviews for this high-end coffee maker (and quite frankly, for most of them). I did a lot of research before buying this breville. Given the expense, i did not want to make a mistake. Keeping mind that i have only used the coffee maker for 4 days, here is what i have found:1) it is easy to use;2) it is easy to clean;3) the carafe is excellent (even if it is difficult to get the last bit of coffee out of it); and most importantly,4) the coffee is superb. It is surely better than starbucks and every bit as good as the local coffee shop i (used to) go to, where they roast their own beans and take great pride in their coffee. This breville machine makes a stunning cup of coffee. I wish to update my initial review. I’ve had this breville coffee maker for three years now. In addition to what i wrote three years ago, i can now say that the maker has been reliable. I have not had a single problem (after making about 8 cups of coffee practically every day for 3 years).

Yes, this is an expensive coffee maker, and yes, it takes up a bit of counter space, but it is so worth it. I have been on a bad streak, the past four years, as i have had 3 cuisinart coffee makers die on me, and then after upgrading to a capresso, that sucker lasted less than one year as well. Then i ordered the breville and i have been very, very pleased. Not only does it make an excellent cup of coffee, it is so easy to adjust the brewing cycles and set times. I read comments about the noise, but it makes no more noise than a hand grinder. The bottom line is, if you are a coffee aficionado, as i am, this bdc600xl is simply the best coffee maker i have ever used, period. The carafe is excellent as well, and when i return home in the evening and open the pot to clean it for the next day, the coffee is still warm after several hours.
