JOYOUNG [Official] BONUS PACK! CTS-2038 Easy-Clean Automatic Hot Soy Milk Maker – Very easy to use and clean–I love it!!!

It is convenient for soy milk lover.

This is one of the best purchase that i have made. Its very simple to use and it comes with instruction booklet. I also found a few recipe on line using different beans to make different flavor soy milk (red bean, mung bean, chickpea, black bean. . Etc) also, i read online that soy milk cannot be consumed raw. Raw soy bean may cause digestive problem. I guess that is why the machine has no ‘cold serve’ function. It has to be heated up first.

What finally make me choose the cts-2038 versus the other joyoung models is its larger capacity (1500 – 1700 ml) and the rice paste functions. Rice paste are convenient way of making chinese deserts. Making soy milk is very easy. Put ingredients into the pot as described in the manual, plug in the power, press the selection and soy milk is done in 30 minutes. It is much quieter than i thought. I am expecting something like a blender. But it makes a spinning noise for a few seconds, then it is quiet. It does so in intervals rather than continuously. The larger capacity means i can make soy milk every other day so saves time. As for the cleaning, make sure you clean right away and uses a sponges. Everything works as described. My favorite thing about this machine is how easy it is to clean it. I’ve always dreaded washing my old soy milk maker, buying this new one is a pretty huge upgrade for me since it literally only takes a minute to wash. Easy to use, works perfectly, can’t say enough nice things about it.

Wish that it were a bit smaller for an empty-nest family of two.

(long and edited post with learned comments and advice as i go, but this product is still worth ‘wow’)*****another edit inserted here after 4 months of using this. I make an average of three pots a day, soymilk/okara, and cashew milk. There is some mulm and tarnishing that happens around the impeller blades, impeller shaft and bottom of the central unit, plus the very bottom of the pot. About once a week during cleanup (i clean as i process/pour the milk) i use barkeeper’s friend on a small square of a scrubbee pad and that will get it shining without an issue, it will look brand new again. Scotch blue scrubbee pads work great to clean, i cut them in 1/8th size pieces and use just a little piece for a few days of cleaning then discard and take a new one. I paid for this pot in the first three weeks i owned it, and it is still going strong. (2-3 batches of milk a day). Soymilk hot is an acquired taste but a cup right at pour is great. Warm cashew milk, just at drinking temperature, is out of this world.

The cleaning process is a piece of cake, my soy milk is amazing, and i’ve tried a couple of the recipes in the book. The rice/black sesame seed paste is delicious. The recipe book/instruction manual takes a bit of extra brain power to decipher, but it also includes a recipe for “good for your brain” soy milk/rice porridge.

The soymilk we make is almost double the quantity with this new maker, and so creamy.

No more store bought non dairy milk filled with preservatives and additives.

Use soaked beans to increase the yield. The beeping when it is finished is annoying and too long (30 seconds?)creates left over pulp which you could eat, but isn’t the easiest to include in a recipe so i compost it. Soy milk tastes great and is different from store-bought milk. It has a stronger ‘soy’ flavor. I’ve mostly used it to make soy milk. I tried making tofu twice, but it was not worth the effort (it takes a lot of soymilk to make a pound of tofu) and didn’t taste as good as trader joe’s extra firm.

This one give better taste f than the one i have been used for the past 4 years(joyoung cts-1078). It takes about 30 minutes which doubles the time needed for my previous one but that is why you get better grinding results for wet soybeans.

The first time i made soy milk where i soaked, removed the skins, blended, boiled, and then strained the beans – i looked away and it boiled over on me and made a huge mess. Previously i’d always made soy milk by boiling first and then blending (it never came out right). So after that first boil over i immediately did some more research and found an article recommending this specific brand line for soy milk makers. The concept of pressing a button and making soy milk ready to strain from dry or soaked beans. I never want to clean up boiled over soy bean/milk stuff (okara) ever again. I just don’t have the time or attention span and i really enjoy fresh homemade soy milk. This model only makes it hot. Then i’ve bottled it myself (pour boiling into bottles first to make sure they’re sanitized) and let it cool a bit before putting into the fridge.

Great machine to make soy milk.

Very excellent product design and it is much improved over the earlier design (which i used for 10 years). Just follow instructions and you will enjoy this for a long time.

Easy to use, easy to clean, i’m loving it.

Beautiful design and works wonderfully. I find this machine to not be as loud as other soy machines i’ve tried before on this market. Price is on the higher end but it is worth it.

Like 1 of the review said, soak the soy bean over night would taste better. I used 1 cup of dried soy bean, soaked over night and put in the machine, pour water to the last level then filter it and in 30 minutes i have good warm soy milk just like in my country. The only thing seems ok is that there are not much soy milk. I think the beans need to be grind finer to get more milk and flavor. Other than that cross my fingers.

Make sure to soak your soybeans for at least an hour to make your soymilk taste better. I find that adding dry beans directly into the machine makes the soymilk grainy and diluted.

My chines wife loves it and uses every day.

T-fal TT7095002 Avante Deluxe 2-Slice Toaster : We love this toaster!

I recently purchased this toaster after reading many reviews. I enjoy the slanted slots, the lever to lift the toasted item up and the various settings. I would recommend this toaster to anyone.

I have had this product for ~3 years. It has done quite a good job in this time, evenly heating and being reliable. The only thing i don’t like about this product is that it has relatively short slats. While they are wide enough for bagels, they are too short for even slightly long pieces of bread. Although i do enjoy the ability to hit the bread push button hard and the toast ends up on my plate. Unfortunately after these 3 years, 3 moves, and a lot of use, it has started to go down hill. I keep having to up the browning setting to get it to acceptable heating. I will probobly need to get another toaster soon unfortunately. Since i like to eat a lot of handmade breads i will probobly try to get a toaster with a longer slot.

Looks sharp, works great best bagel toaster i ever owned. Does not heat the outside of toaster or counter which our last hamilton beech one always did.

This is a great toaster and it does everything they said it would do.

Best toaster that we have ever had.

We are very happy with this purchase. This toaster is a replacement for an older avante that also had the bagel feature. The toast and the bagels are not dry, yet nicely toasted. I tried another brand that advertised a bagel feature, but it toasted both sides (not a good thing). The avante deluxe toasts the inside and leaves the outside alone.

It comes from canada, where not every complication is prevented. Thus this toaster can actually burn bread. But if you set it right, it produces the most beautiful evenly toasted slices you have seen – just like downtown. If you make only one slice, hunt for your toast on the counter where the springs toss it. If you forget to set the toaster to the right time, expect to be disappointed. You will quickly learn how to feel a slice of bread the turn the dial for the right moisture content.

This toaster has some good qualities and features. The one i was looking for is not on this model. I wanted a toaster that can toast evenly on both sides with one slice of bread. The avante does no better than cheaper toasters.

I know we just received this toaster yesterday and used it the first time this morning, but i think it is going to be the best toaster we have had in years. For the past 15 or more years, we have been using toaster ovens, but decided for just the two of us now, we could get along with a toaster. Used it for our fresh homemade bread this morning and it was phenomenal. I believe one reviewer said something like: ‘the toast was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, the way toast should be. ‘ well, i am here to say, it is. Can’t wait to try the bagel button out. I highly recommend this toaster to anyone. 2/09: wanted to add this important note: we did try the bagel setting and it is the greatest thing since sliced white bread.I also love it for english muffins.

This toaster is the best machine built. It can handle a bagel to a thick slice breadmy go to gift.

Slots are not long enough for certain breads.

Absolutely love this toaster. I have a toaster oven but it takes too long for it to make toast. On this one i can put all sizes and types of bread. The best feature is the refresh button in case you forgot you had toast in there.

I bought this toaster on faith and i was dissapointed. The dial to adjust the degree of toasting is wobbly and cheap feeling. The slots for bread are wide thickness wise but not long enough to accomadate a slice of pepperidge farms double fiber bread. It toasts okay but i will give this away and continue to look for a quality toaster priced reasonably.

I never thought that i would be so estatic over a toaster, but this one is special. It toasts very fast and evenly. Even small muffins can be extracted easily.

The first one lasted 10 years. It still worked but one of the plastic levers were broken.

We bought a cheaper brand and immediately saw a difference. We returned and got this toaster again because we loved it so much.

This toaster is quite functional but is too large and really doesn’t look as retro as it does in the ad.

I bought this as a christmas gift for my father. Before this toaster he always used a knife to lift the toast out of the toaster slots to avoid burning his fingers. Of course this meant always unplugging the toaster. I bought this for him because of the angled slot design and lift lever and he is really enjoying it as he has toast for breakfast everyday.

I purchased this toaster for use in my office, so needless to say it gets a lot of use. The bagel feature is a big plus. Would definitely but the same one again.

This is the second one we bought. The only drawback is the lettering comes off after a while.

Have had one of these for 4 months now and it works great, what a novel way to design a toaster- slope the slots so they are easy to get the bread in. Ours is on the counter under the cabinets so it really works great. Well made, slots are wide enough for bagels and has a really logical-easy to use temp adjuster. The lever on the side that lifts the finished toast out is also nice to have. It’s rather big but anything other than grandmas old toaster is bigger nowdays to accept those bagels. Stainless steel is easy to clean, has a little crumb catcher in the bottom and the price was good. I’d highly recomend if you need just a two slot toaster.

Wabash Valley Farms Whirley Pop Stovetop Popcorn Popper : First bad one out of 4

Is it legal to marry a kitchen utensil, especially if you’re already married to someone else?. Well, love knows no boundaries, and i’ve got to say, “i love my whirley pop. ” there, i said it, and i’m not ashamed. This thing makes, hands down, the absolute best popcorn i’ve ever had at home. It smells and tastes just like movie theater popcorn, and, frankly, sometimes i just want to stick my head in the empty pot and breathe that amazing popcorn smell all day long. Besides making great popcorn, it’s also really fun. My 4-year old loves to help mommy make popcorn. I always add the oil, and he adds the kernels. Then we take turns spinning the crank on the handle.

Granted, this is my first one (nothing to really compare it to) but i extensively read the reviews of all the different popcorn poppers (including the electric plug in ones) and decided the stainless steel whirley pop was the right one for my family. It was on the higher end price wise but it seems there were a lot of complaints about the cheaper version’s plastic gear always breaking. I liked that it wasn’t aluminum too (i don’t totally buy into the hype of aluminum and health problems but why chance it?). The stainless steel pot heats very evenly and this definitely does a great job of popping almost all of the kernels without burning them. It is very easy to clean (just wipe out if making a basic batch without sugar/salt). But also hand washes easily too. I’ve made the standard batch (popcorn and oil – both canola and olive) and also my version of healthy kettle corn (1/2 c. Canola oil, 10 packets of truvia, 1/4 t.

We were given one of these as a gift several years ago and we loved it. We have bought several to give as gifts and we finally bought this one to replace ours that had broken down with use (one side of the hinged lid snapped off due to metal fatigue). Unfortunately, this one appears to have some sort of problem. The lid appears to be just slightly mis-sized, and it doesn’t clamp securely to the pot as previous versions did. It slides around a little, and when you go to pour out the finished popcorn, both sides swing down and popcorn goes everywhere.

I really like this popper — popcorn tastes so much better. Quick and easy to use, though sometimes slightly difficult to empty when it pops really full. Packets of popcorn and oil are just slightly too much for this popper — have a chop stick ready to help dislodge wedged popcorn from the pot after popping if you are using these packets. One pointer: when popping corn grip the wood handle near the crank end, not near the pot itself. There are tiny gaps in the lid at the hinge that allow tiny droplets of hot oil to spatter out. If you grip too close to the pot your hand can get burned by these tiny droplets. To stir the popping corn requires only a slight grip, so gripping near the crank end is sufficient and protects your hands. One detraction: i’d like to see a second handle on the actual pot itself. The one handle it has is attached to the lid with some rather thin brackets.

  • I seriously LOVE popcorn. Over the years I have purchased just

Let me first say, that i almost never leave a review that’s positive, because i think something is supposed to work as described, and that doesn’t warrant a pat on the head, so when something does what it’s supposed to i pretty much just move on with my life. Things shouldn’t require modification or repair to do what the manufacturer claims it is supposed to do right out of the box. Having that been said, i just abused the crap out of this thing and it beat me. You guys like popcorn, i love popcorn (pizza, beer, popcorn and a good movie don’t always require a date as far as i’m concerned; almost just as great all by itself). No, i don’t plan to live to be 46, but i also rarely indulge in any of the above (though, those days might be over now). Constructioni miss real stainless steel. Farberware is mostly crap now, and almost nothing you buy for under $20 is worth the trip to the store (i’m talking about one single chef’s knife, et cetera; not a set). The reason is because there are actually many grades of stainless steel (regardless of what you are making out of it) and you can claim something is stainless in your advertising even if you use the absolute cheapest grade available. There are items made of grades of stainless that will rust just sitting on a shelf in its packaging, or because of the humidity in the air. Wal-mart sells a lot of them.

Over the years i have purchased just about every corn popper there is available in the home use category. I even bought one small commercial grade popper. The trouble with most poppers is the cleanup. A lot of good poppers are just not worth the fuss. The electric “spinning” models are only fair in my opinion because of the sogginess inside due to poor steam release. They are also a lot of trouble to clean. I wrote off whirly pop as a possibility for me mainly because my cooking surface is induction and it simply would not work. Also, i thought the plastic gears and function seemed a little on the cheap/poor quality side with the amount i use it. The whirley pop is a great popper and is perfect for most home users.
