If any thing has liquid, or oily item it will not seal, and will start sucking it into vaccum machine and destroy it.
I looked at vacuum sealers for a long time before i purchased the weston. I am very happy with this purchase. I have used this product for over a year now and i use it to package dehydrated foods, homemade oatmeal mixes, pancake mixes and jerky. It seals all without much problems including the powdery mixes. I like the that the sealing edge is wider on this vacuum sealer than other brands. I did notice that if your are vacuum sealing sharper edged items like apples with peels that the suction is strong enough to puncture the bags but that is where i switch to jars. I have also purchased the tilia foodsaver accessory hose, foodsaver t03-0006-01 regular-mouth jar sealer and the foodsaver t03-0023-01 wide-mouth jar sealer to use with the weston for vacuum sealing jars and they work well together. I have made and sealed hundreds of bags and jars with the weston. I purchase the 50′ rolls and make smaller bags and i have used two different types of bags without many problems.
Had to settle for it’s baby sister. We loved it, 15″ sealing width, strength of seal, quality of build, power, etc. The only thing we didn’t realize is that although it has a vacuum port, it is not made to vacuum seal containers, marinators or mason jars. We dehydrate large amounts of our garden production and make pounds of jerky so this ability was a necessity. My fault for not doing more research and perhaps weston should make note of this in their description of this wonderful sealer. We wound up ordering their pro 1100, which has the 11″ sealing bar (like most other vac sealers (foodsaver etc)), as it has the external port for sealing containers and mason jars as well as a roll storage and cutting bar. It is also 4″ or so narrower.
You can’t go wrong w/ the weston pro-2300. I’ve been in the market for a new vacuum sealer since my first sealer bit the dust. I started out with a kenmore sealer about 12 years, and it did a good job considering the task i ask of it. I started looking for a better replacement in a professional machine since i do a lot of dehydrating for long term food storage. I’ve spent a good bit of time reading reviews and comparing different machines and this one always ended up at the top of the list. The weston pro-2300 is no wimp. The only thing better, in my opinion, would be a chamber sealer, if you have the money to spend and a lot of counter space. Don’t get me wrong, the weston pro-2300 has a large footprint on your counter, but not much more than my old kenmore sealer. You could easily store this away in a bottom cabinet if needed. This thing is built like a tank.

Solid machine from a solid brand–weston. After killing my last foodsaver (my fault, not the foodsaver’s), i elected to buy this model. I had a foodsaver pro, and like every other foodsaver, the rubber gaskets get ‘hinky’, and there has been no easy way to replace them. My gaskets were ‘hinky’ before i killed it with too juicy of contents that got sucked into the entire thing. The unit died an ignominious death at my hadn. But i have not seen another foodsaver that looked as solid as my last (despite hinky seal gaskets). As i had recently purchased a weston #22 grinder (it is a workhorse), and i was very happy with that quality, i elected to get this brand as my vacuum replacement. I snagged a warehouse deal (on amazon) on this model due to outer box issues.
This thing really sucks and that’s a good thing. I purchased this as a replacement for a foodsaver that continuously overheated after sealing four or five bags. That foodsaver was the a replacement (under warranty) for another one with the same problem. I don’t use the vacuum sealer often but when i do it is usually for quite a bit of product. The last time was a rib eye that i bought whole, trimmed, and cut into steaks. I had about 25 steaks and the foodsaver overheated after sealing two or three pieces. Each time it did i had to wait 10-15 minutes minimum for it to operate again for another three or four pieces. I was left worrying about my prime grade beef out of the refrigerator/freezer while i waited for the unit to reset. With that last exasperating experience i started looking for a better replacement and came across the weston. The only thing holding me back was the hefty price.
What i have been looking for. After countless cheaply made foodsaver models, i purchased this sealer. I held off reviewing this product to give it time to disappoint me. I am more impressed with it every time i use it. Its heavy, good quality sometimes dictates heavy. The price seems high until you own one and know its appropriately priced.
I like many people deliberated and researched these things to death before finally making my purchase decision. I looked at the various foodsavers, read a ton of reviews, and decided that i’m the type of guy who likes to buy something quality once, versus buying cheapies over and over that break. When you get your hands on this machine and start using it, that’s just the impression you’ll get – quality. It’s heavy, metal, and sturdy. It’s very simple to operate and really works well. It draws an incredible amount of suction, and the seal it leaves is considerably wider than that of the foodsavers i’ve seen. I have used the tilia accessory hose and the foodsaver jar attachment, as well as the marinator and a few storage containers – all work perfectly via the little port in the tray.
For a couple of years now and am very pleased, the only reason i don’t give it a. I’ve had this unit for a couple of years now and am very pleased, the only reason i don’t give it a five star is because of the frequency of having to install the maintenance kits, they could do a better job in the design here or at least use better materials to make it last longer.
I received this product about 1 month ago. I vac seal a lot of items on a regular basis. I have been using my old food saver (i probably vac sealed over 1k bags) but it was starting to get quirky on me. After reading many reviews on the new line of foodsavers i chose to look elsewhere. I found this semi-commercial model and it had great reviews. For better or worse, here are my thoughts(from someone who has been vac sealing for nearly 20 years) regarding this weston vac sealer. It is big and heavy – i like that. It is made in taiwan, not china. It seems, so far, to be of high quality. It sucks – and i mean that in a good way. This thing could suck a golf ball through a garden hose. The sealing strip is quite large – not that little thread of a seal from my foodsaver. It can utilize bags up to 15″ wide. It is much quieter than my foodsaver.
I catch quite a bit of fish, tuna especially, and came to dread the processing with my foodsaver. While it did a nice job, the duty cycle on the most expensive model is about 20%, meaning it can be actually working for 2 minutes out of every ten or it overheats. Since i purchased it i have bagged between 300-400lbs of tuna and dolphin and not had a a single issue. I used to clean and zip lock the meat, and then each day for a week or two after fishing, i would coax the foodsaver into bagging my catch two or three bags at a time. Each few bags would mean setting up and cleaning up all over again. Now it goes straight from the fillet table into a bag and as fast as two people can bag the steaks they are sealed. Not only does it not overheat, the actual sealing process takes 1/4 to 1/3 the time that the foodsaver took. Now the foodsaver looks great on my counter and is used lightly, as is appropriate, and the weston is the workhorse that i break out when we return from the continental shelf.
Absolutely no problems so far. Absolutely no problems so far. We’ve used it to package several whitetail deer and not one hang up. Huge upgrade from our food saver, no “tray” or moisture problems with this like the food saver.
I’ve use several other vacuum packer before and this is by far the best one i’ve ever used. We do 3-16 day river trips w/ large groups and this is a must for the prep. Very heavy duty and a very thick seal.
Very simple, accepts wide bags. Extreme simplicity and plenty of vacuum power make this work fast and easy. Just put open side of bag within the clearly visible vacuum area and press start. You don’t need a special size or brand of bag. Didn’t think to measure width of the vacuum and sealing area, but it will accept wider bags than i will ever need. I thought it was going to be complicated and tedious. Machine does take some couter space. But because machine lays flat, it makes it very easy for the counter to support the bag containing food.
Excellent vacuum sealer – so much better than off the shelf. Finally, i found a vacuum sealer that works. My third food saver was dying a slow, painful death,so i was in search of something that would work and last. We shop once a month and buy in bulk to save money. It was a major chore trying to get the meat put up – having to double seal every bag on both ends to keep them from opening, having to do two to three bags and then wait 10 – 20 minutes between sealings (got worse the more bags were sealed). Depending on the amount of meat we bought, it would take days to get done. This weston has power, but doesn’t over-vacuum. It adjusts to the item you are sealing. It totally crushed an energy drink can i used to test the vacuum power, but unlike the food saver, it doesn’t squeeze the juices out of the meat making the food dry when you cook it.
This unit is much quieter and faster than the household models being sold i have seen. The seal bar is the biggest advantage. It is about three times as wide as the lower quality units.
We butcher our personal beef and some for the relatives and have employed the foodsaver in the past but with a lot of inventory in 1 day desired to up grade. The weston sixty five-0201 pro-2300 was the respond to as it has a enthusiast and does not overheat as the foodsavers do. I would be in heaven if it experienced a a lot more strong suction restrict. It is my opinion that the foodsaver sucks more air out. Also, it is not going to operate in the chilly. I held it in the again place (not heated) and experienced to enable it heat up ahead of applying. The enterprise really should give it a lot more ability and let the person press the manual seal if want considerably less. I believe i will never will need to use manual seal as it does not suck lengthy more than enough for my regular. The fantastic enjoyable is it will seal two baggage at the same time with simplicity.
Been utilizing this sealer for about a thirty day period now and it is good. No fuss no complicationswe are utilizing all weston luggage and they are doing fantastic, we have sealed about 100lb of meat so considerably and have not had one seal faili did a lot of study just before obtaining a sealer and i am happy that i bought this onetips:~use a compact folded paper towel at the major of of the bag when sealing unthawed meats. ~never pack food items far too close to the major of the bag. ~get the customized slice luggage, the pre-reduce bags are fantastic for some things but not all. ~when packing floor beef flatten it out to suit the bag, it usually takes a lot less time to thaw and seals extremely effectively. I double seal the baggage when i seal them, not certain if it is required all the time but operates effectively and continue to not failures.
On the full, the merchandise was acceptable for my function. On the other hand, i identified it did not function effectively with the bags that had been produced for it (from vacmesh). It did not wholly suck all the air out till the bag was not laid flat. The moment it is bulky, it performs perfectly. The instruction manual is very simple. There is no way to alter the period of suctioning time. Once i figured it out, i have turn into happy but it left an untidy edge.
The speed of it shocked me. The velocity of it stunned me, after owning 5 other units of distinct suppliers. No issues soon after continual use. Very best of all the sucker-uppers i’ve experienced. It can suck up two quart luggage at the moment).
Workhorse, fast, impressive, peaceful, strong, effective…. Quicker, quieter, retains far better, operates lengthier, leaps tall structures in a single certain (okay probably not). Lets you to continue to keep your sanity and seal a dozen baggage back-to-back again and chat when it does it’s operate. You can not do that with the less than $200 sealers out there. They will about heat and just take a few instances as very long to seal, and you require ear security when functioning them. They will only do 3-4 bags at at the time and i have by no means overheated this device. Developed well for bringing a load of meat home from the warehouse, breaking it down, sealing and off to the freezer. The weston baggage are the best far too. We preserve pint, quart, and gallon bags on hand all the time, and the moment you change it on you are ready to roll in seconds.
I procured this device just after significantly study on the world wide web and conversing to people today/good friends who very own sealers of their individual. We finally realized the have to have for a responsible vacuum sealer soon after the value of all meat started out to rise. I’ve now sealed a full pig, about forty chickens in diverse versions, veggies, chili, sauce, and on and on. I desired to hold out until i utilised this point for a little bit in advance of creating a evaluate and i need to say, this was well truly worth the additional money and research. It is quickly, responsible, heavy and extremely properly created. It does an extraordinary work sealing, really tight seal, fantastic every time. I would recommend this to anybody who is going to do a truthful volume of preserving, if you seal a few packs of greens for the duration of the yr this is definately overkill. One particular additional factor to insert, my sister has been vacuum sealing for a few yrs now and each individual calendar year runs to walmart and buys a walmart distinctive for about $60. And replaces it each and every calendar year.
