Hario Woodneck Drip Pot : Makes excellent coffee

I know – not supposed to use soap – but i do. I use a mild soap about once a week to clean the cloth and rinse thoroughly. After brewing, i clean and store the cloth in the fridge in a sealed glass container with some water in it. I change the container once a week. The cloth has not molded, tasted funny, or worn out, and i have now had the cloth and pot for 6 () months. I like that it is environmentally friendly – paper is still the largest portion of our waste stream. It is clean, crisp, and so responsive to time that i can brew a thick, chocolately cup in 2 minutes and a bright, fruity cup in 3 minutes, per my choosing. I usually can have the grinder clean by the time the water boils, and everything else clean about 2 minutes after brewing – so no, this is not a time intensive method of brewing. When i am feeling lazy i use filtropa filters but i’ve really only done this twice. Com/filtropa-white-paper-coffee-filters/dp/b0001ixa9o.

It’s smaller than i thought.

This is exactly what i was looking for. It’s exactly a single serving size so there’s no guesswork about how much to fill it up. The filter has lasted quite a while, and it’s very low maintenance. Most importantly, the coffee tastes excellent.

I love the way this coffee pot works, it’s very eco-friendly and the coffee tastes great. It does drip a little fast, so running it through the coffee grounds twice can be helpful, but once is okay too. I was not much of a black coffee drinker, but black coffee from this pot is very flavorful and never burns.

With my original hario, i was surprised that within a year i had to replace the filters. Didn’t think i would have to, but then the coffee wouldn’t filter through. I wish someone had mentioned needing replacements at the store where i bought this the first time. The replacements are just like the original. The directions ask that you keep them wet and in the fridge when not using. Really don’t know why you would have to do that. Been using my first replacement for about two months now and it’s fine. Starting to show some discoloration and some wear, but still works well. I think three of these should last you a year if you’re a regular coffee drinker.

Hario Woodneck Drip Pot, 240ml, Dark Wood : I really like this drip pot. The cloth filter, while it requires a little extra attention (need to store it in the fridge), does make a great cup of coffee.

Best coffee-related purchase i’ve ever made. Makes excellent pour-overs, love the fabric filter, glass carafe goes right into the dishwasher, wooden holder is easy to remove and put back on. I have been diligently keeping the filter in the fridge, so i don’t know how it might do otherwise, but no problems with it so far.

I’ve not run into a smell or odor with the reusable filter, but i have noticed my coffee has a strange aftertaste. It’s weird because the filter itself doesn’t smell at all- i’m thinking it’s just the way the coffee ends up being filtered?. I’m still using it and i think it’s a great way to brew coffee, i just need to figure out this aftertaste business.

Leave it to the japanese to come up with such a simple yet high quality device to brew coffee at home. (although as another reviewer noted, this method has been widely used in costa rica for years). If you are tired of buying coffee machines that promise great coffee but fail to deliver, get this. It will be the last coffee brewing device you will ever get. And the simplest and most energy efficient. The 4-cup model is probably the best option because it will make enough brewed coffee for 2 ‘american’ cups or mugs of coffee. The process could not be simpler, and although the instructions are in japanese, there are translations into english on the box and the insert. One thing you will probably want to get is a hario gooseneck pour over teakettle or similar because it allows for directional pouring of the boiled water over the grounds. As the instructions suggest, you should pour a little of the water into the center of the grounds and then work your way to the outside and then wait about 30 seconds for the coffee to ‘bloom’ and release its treasured flavor. Then pour the remaining water into the cloth filter and allow it to drip through the bloomed coffee into the bottom of the carafe.

This is an identical filter and holder as the original one that comes with the hario drip pot 480ml. I bought it to include with the pot i am giving as a gift. It is just as tiny and the cloth filter is the same. I just thought it might be nice to have on hand for brewing a second cup or in case something happens to the first piece.

So only had it for one day with two brews out of it and i’ve tasted a whole new side of the beans i currently have. French press or mocha pot give completely differing flavor profiles. If you want the delicate notes retained this is a great method if you follow the correct brew method. The pot is good, its glass so will have to mind it but the leather wrap is grand and shouldn’t burn yourselves if you take a moment of caution. The cotton filter bag is a good solid thick mesh so its a sturdy bag and can see it having a long life span. Only 4 stars as its only survived one day with me.

Exactly what i have been searching for.

Perfect to get you away from paper filters, had these fr a long time without a single tear or issue.

Makes the best cup of coffee i’d ever made. However, getting the filter onto the wood handle is a deal breaker. After several months the wood handle and metal holder required daily bending to get back into shape. An aggravation i did not want to face every morning, so i switched to a chemex w/ a cloth filter. Maybe not quite as delicious, luxurious a cup, but totally worth it.

The pot w/ the filter made a big difference in terms of aroma and taste. While the process and the maintenance might take longer than the usual paper filter on a plastic dripper or kcup, but it’s really worth the extra time. Obviously, i don’t recommend this product for an impatient individual, who needs it immediately. One must have patience to control the flow of the water to produce the optimum result of the coffee. With proper technique, this pot can give you a really good cup of coffee. I highly recommended this for the true coffee drinker.

The hario flannel filters filter coffee quickly. Bear in mind the need to store in the refrigerator in water in a closed container to prevent bad smells on the fabric.

When i drink coffee i want to enjoy every drop. But being somewhat thrifty, while i like to experiment with what will affect the outcome, i typically don’t want to invest a lot. This drip pot is the perfect size for me (drink a cup or two per day) and the coffee brewed with the cloth filter is amazingi had read some articles previously on cloth filters making the coffee taste like socks, or having other issues, but i really would have a hard time going back to a paper filter. The coffee brewed with this filter is so silky and flavorful. The grounds are filtered out, but the oils are able to pass through enough to give the coffee a smooth and flavorful drop. For comparison, i brewed some target brand coffee my wife was drinking in a more traditional pour over with paper filter. This tasted ok, but when i brewed with this filter, wow she could not believe it was the same coffee. I may have controlled the temperature a bit better than when she had brewed, but still the results were strikingly different.

I enjoy making coffee with different methods: chemex, clever, aeropress, kone, impress. I have been getting the best results from this hario drip pot. It lets the oils come through without the sediment. The flavor that i get with this method is the best of the different methods that i have tried. I think the difference is in the cloth filter.

In my humble opinion this is the best manual brew method. I love the complexity of the flavors and the richness. Glass is very durable, i have bumped it fairly hard on the metal sink and the counter and there isn’t a single scratch or chip. A fantastic gift as well for any coffee lovers.

The cloth filter is a great, environmentally friendly way to have a fresh cup of drip coffee every morning. Maintenance isn’t too difficult: just keep the cloth filter soaked in water in the fridge when not in use. The taste of the coffee comes through smooth as long as the coffee grind is ‘fine,’ not too coarse. The product itself is produced in japan, and shipping took less than three weeks from tokyo. If you love drip coffee, this is a much better product than the ceramic and acrylic coffee drippers from clever or hario.

Really great-tasting coffee, with no paper filter taste, and good for the environment. I highly recommend this product.

My dad loves this thing and only uses this whenever making his pourover.

Butterball XXL Digital 22 lb – Trial and error learning curve – test this out prior to a big family meal

I bought this as a gift, and my neighbors love it.

Nice product, does what it says.

Works well, pre-heating period is double what they say.

I’ve had ours about 6 years now. I’ve done about 25 turkeys, 500-600 wings, 8 shrimp boils in it. Doesn’t get any easier then this. Cleaning it can be a pain depending on how many things you deep dry. I change the oil out every 6th frying. This year i’m deep frying 2 turkeys for my neighbors a long with ours on thanksgiving. Only way my family will eat turkey anymore. I deep fry on my workbench in the garage. You can smell it down the street and know the good stuff will be ready soon.

At thanksgiving i made a large turkey and it turned out great.

This product did a great job frying a thanksgiving turkey but i am really happy that i did it in the garage. The oil smell is quite overpowering as it vents on three sides. I would very much caution against indoor use with this in mind. In addition, pay attention to how to get heating started as it does not have a ‘on/off’ switch.

Works great, very little splashing and it cooked our turkey in just over an hour and still tasted like it had been marinating for over a day.

I bought this off of qvc after watching their amazing presentation of the item. First let me say, they say you can fry up to a 22 lb. Not unless you want the top white and that skin to not be fried. The turkey absorbs some of the oil as well as heat evaporation and eventually you have turkey sitting out above the oil and not cooking evenly. Also the instruction book is an absolute mess. Good luck trying to figure out how to get the pre-heat to work (you hit f so that it changes to h and for us, even when the machine beeped, the light to say it was preheated fully never turned green – also, do you keep it on h during the cooking or put it back to f where it doesn’t bubble as much?. The guide and various youtube videos will tell you nothing. ) for all of the conveniences of digital, the videos with the turn dial version of this actually looked easier and more straight forward. Also, the cord is super short and they tell you no extension cords which means you’re locked into using a counter top.

I gave the fryer as a gift and my friend loved it.

After a whole week, i have had researched for better quality of extra large turkey fryer. I never had any electric or propane fryer before except once my first taste of fried turkey from creole friends who used propane fryer outside, but i have learned so many dangerous accidents like burning down the garage which scared me until i have read others’ great comments about how easy to fry a turkey in the electric fryer. So i ordered one week before thanksgiving. I cooked 18 lb turkey less than an hour and perfect well cooked. I used to dislike turkey breast. Now i love it because its flavor and tender. I did not use any marinate shot. Just plain to see what’s the result. I tried to fry chicken legs. Sweet potato chips were the greatest. Fried cod fishes drove my family crazy. I love the turkey fryer so much. Much less greasy mess than regular frying pan. Much safer and less injury by popping out oil. I do recommend this fryer for first time fryers.

Cooked an 18 pound turkey in just over an hour. This is my new fav method of cooking turkey.

I bought this fryer last year right before the holidays. I fried turkeys for both thanksgiving and christmas and they both came out great. The cooking time is drastically less than what it would be in an oven – only 4 minutes per pound. But don’t forget, while it’s fantastic for turkey, it’s great for year-round frying. The basket is nice and large so you can typically fit all your servings into one dunk. This is nice because you can start eating while the food is still hot instead of waiting for 2 or 3 more trips back to a smaller fryer. The lid also really helps to keep oil splatter to a minimum. I’ve cooked most items right in my kitchen but for large turkeys i take the unit out to the garage. While i try to dry the bird as much as possible, there’s always some moisture trapped somewhere. And when that moisture hits hot oil, the splatter is very dangerous, especially while trying to lower a 20 pound turkey into the pot.

Love it best fryer ive ever used.

This would have received 5 stars because it worked amazing, but the inner aluminum strainer has a couple sharp edges that cut my thumb while cleaning, so be careful.

Currently used to shrink wrap smaller fresh birds. Cover is a little flimsy yet closes fine. Item did arrive with small mark on cover and was full of finger prints. Sold to us as new, looks new, yet finger prints says it was out of the box at some point. Lowest temp setting is 212 deg f. We must have read incorrectly. Would be nice to dial it down to 180 for water. All in all nice simple unit.

Have had this unit (xxl) for 5 years. Every thanksgiving and christmas, we cook at least two turkeys, sometimes up to four (as everyone in the family wants leftovers). It’s held up well, and the turkeys and turkey breasts we’ve cooked are very moist, with crisp and delicious skin. We’ve cooked several 21-22 pound birds without an issue. It does smell up the garage, but it’s a delicious smell. Always used canola oil with no issues. Need to try peanut oil, but it’s twice the cost of more. I can’t recommend this unit enough.

Butterball XXL Digital 22 lb.

It was brand new and received it in perfect condition.

I will never go back to oven turkeys again. The turkey was done perfectly and juicy. I did inject a seasoning mix and seasoned the outside with poultry seasoning and it was fantastic. All i can say is i will never go back to cooking a turkey in any other way.

We did our first deep fried turkey this year.

Turkey was beautiful my gold all over, no burnt wings or legs. Easy to use, recommend ordering heat resistant gloves also for lifting safely.

This product and exactly what we wanted.

Excellent results; user friendly and easy to clean. I highly recommend buying the heat resistance gloves to facilitate removing the bird once finished and handling the unit when draining the oil (if done shortly after cooking). I also recommend using the butterball marinade and seasoning.

22 pound

I have used a traditional pot on a gas flame for 15 years. That has always turned out a great bird. The issue had been that you are limited to 15 or 16 pound birds. Had to do 3 of them for a big gathering. This year i was easier with this fryer. I did 2 twenty two pound birds. I still did this on our back porch for the first time as i had been used to the pot and flame method. It was very easy to put the bird in, and the thermostat kept the temp where it needed to be rather than me adjusting the flame and monitoring the temps throughout the cooking process. This could be done inside on a kitchen counter away from little kids.

Best purchase i’ve made in a while. Arrived just in time before thanksgiving and it saved the day. I was able to use the fryer and save space in the oven.

RJ Brands Chefman : Five Stars

I love it — the best slow cooker i have owned.

Awesome crock pot and plenty big for my household of 8 adults.

Flexibility is excellent due to three heat settings + solid, thick aluminum non-stick insert allowing you to cook on a stovetop before moving on to completing other steps with the slow cooker activated. You can’t go wrong (but much cheaper elsewhere than on amazon.

Like the cast aluminum cooking insert.

The insert for this cooker is very nice, seems durable, and i like that you can use it on the stovetop. The heat settings are questionable for me – i’ve had other slow cookers that “simmer” meats, this one gets warm on high but barely cooks the meat (example: turkey thighs). I feel the need to double check a thermometer reading to be sure that meats are fully cooked. When i tried to make soup, the dried beans did not cook at all, and were still hard at the end of the day. Do not try to cook meats from a frozen state, as they will not get done even with several hours on high. My attempts to contact customer service to see if there might be a way to determine if my unit is working properly went unanswered. This cooker seems best used for keeping food at a moderately warm setting, but be cautious about expecting it to cook.

Love the slow cooker, but disappointed that i paid $65 on amazon and it sells for $39.

I really like the insert that i can use on the cooktop, but i wish it had a timer and would turn off automatically.

However the operating instruction manual (page 7) states “note: you may use metal utensils when placing food in and removing food from die-cast cookware. We purchased ours in 2016 and it looks as though it has been in a losing battle.

I have used it to make chicken and tri tip. Every time the food comes out delicious. So happy i went with this one .

Not too big for the counter, not to small to make great dinners for two.

This is the best slow cooker i have owned out of 4. It’s best feature is it’s stovetop use.

I have had 5 different slow cookers in my life and this is by far the best i have ever had. The entire unit is very light because the insert. Being able to put the insert on the stove to sear meat or grill onions and then put it in the base is so very helpful. The slow cooker cooks extremely well.

I love this item, aside for the fact that it looks gorgeous it works superbly. I picked up this item about a month ago and i immediately fell in love with it. I am finally not ashamed to leave my slow cooker on my counter top. Also the fact that i can also use the di-cast inset on a stove top and the oven and then just put it in the dishwasher when im done, what can be better. I would def recommend this product to everyone.

Practical and hold good portion.

The best slow cooker ,very easy to use.

I have had several “crock-pots” this one is so much better. Cooked a pork shoulder so perfectly it just fell apart and then washed out so simply.

So much easier to use than the heavy ceramic pot. And love the rectangular shape over oval or round. Haven’t browned on the stove yet but can see clearly what a great advantage that is.

I bought it because of good reviews and iam not at all disappointed in it. It’s lightweight and not heavy like the one i have that is made like a crock. It cooks very nice and cleanup is a breeze.

Much easier to handle that heavy crockery.

You can brown the hamburger in the same pot without dirtying another pot. I also like the fact that you can use it in the oven (minus the lid it’s not for oven use). I bought one for my daughter for christmas and was so jealous of it i had to get one for myself.

It really does what it claims to do. My husband bought me this a few months ago. I’ve owned several slow cookers over the years and i was tired of having to lift this heavy ceramic pot out of the cooker to clean it. This not only allows you to brown food before you slow cook it but it is light as a feather and cleans up very easily. I’ve used it about 6 times and everything comes out great. I can’t think of a single negative.

. I put the insert in the oven. I have another that i used before but it has a ceramic insert was heavy and had no handles. So it made it difficult to lift.
